Cardiff to subsidise travel costs to Burnley
Cardiff to subsidise travel costs to Burnley
As per title, Cardiff city are to subsidise fans travel cost when we play them.
Doing all they can to boost their chances in what could be the biggest game of the season for both clubs.

Would they not have sold out for their biggest game of the season without money being knocked off ?

Boost their chances...be pretty poor if they didn’t sell out without free coaches.

Have we ever done anything like that?

Possibly, but still a nice touch all the same.claretonthecoast1882 wrote:Would they not have sold out for their biggest game of the season without money being knocked off ?

Season tickets are frozen, what more do you want.Bordeauxclaret wrote:Have we ever done anything like that?
To answer you're question, yes possibly over a decade ago now though, I'm sure we did a few nice things when Mr Kilby was in charge.
Re: Cardiff to subsidise travel costs to Burnley
Yes West Brom away a few years ago...Bordeauxclaret wrote:Have we ever done anything like that?
Along with things like the free season ticket (refund) when we got promoted to the prem under Judarse Horseteeth....
Like has been pointed out under Barry Kilby's tenure

That's the one - we went by car but apparently there were major problems on the coaches. The club hadn't bothered to steward them and there were lots of young kids on them who were, shall we say, worse the wear for drink.Lancasterclaret wrote:League game wasn't it?

Re: Cardiff to subsidise travel costs to Burnley
We asked when we got the last promotion if the club would offer any subsidies for supporters going to away games. The answer was a clear, unequivocal no, that the club preferred to keep the prices down for all fans at home.

Re: Cardiff to subsidise travel costs to Burnley
To be fair the club used to hold an annual free kids Christmas party for all junior claret members, where they could meet the players etc.
They then added a charge of £5, any fan gesture would only see this possibly rise again, I'd rather they kept the kids things as cheap as possible or only increased slightly, as they are the next generation that we need to look after and get hooked whilst we are achieving.
Oh and I remember a recent fan gesture.
It looked as though waterproof ponchos were available Saturday to the fans open to the elements.

I wonder what the conditions are as it may be worthwhile some of us down here taking advantage cost wise, I will investigate.

Hi IT, you've got me here. Cardiff paying part of the cost of coach travel to reduce the cost to be paid by their fans to travel to Burnley. Yes, that's what I call a subsidy.Imploding Turtle wrote:Excuse me. Subsidise? I know a couple of people who will argue with this thread title.
But, I'm still not clear where the subsidy for the fossil fuel industry comes in - unless it's on a higher volume of diesel sales to fuel the coaches.

Re: Cardiff to subsidise travel costs to Burnley
Actually, Burnley do subsidise away fans in IT's mind. Every time they don't charge £5 booking fee to buy an away ticket, they're subsidising them by £5. So I'm told.Paul Waine wrote:Hi IT, you've got me here. Cardiff paying part of the cost of coach travel to reduce the cost to be paid by their fans to travel to Burnley. Made it very difficult for us regular away fans to get a ticket!Bordeauxclaret wrote:Which game was the WBA one? The cup tie?
Had to queue at WBA. Queue told....no more left.
Most disappeared to the pub. Handful of us waited....
Got in, just after kick-off. Phew!

Someone will complain, and the kids party fee will go up again, the toilets , drains, will never get fixed, whilst the bog roll will be reduced to 1 roll a pair of toilets.
Lets just hope those who didn't get 1 are proper supporters who will turn a blind eye to the half arsed effort like the rest of us.

Re: Cardiff to subsidise travel costs to Burnley
I'd forgotten that, dsr. Of course, now I realise that capping the away ticket prices at £30 is also a subsidy for away fans. I guess IT will also have got an angle where that is also a subsidy for the fossil fuel sector.dsr wrote:Actually, Burnley do subsidise away fans in IT's mind. When did it become the fashion to start wanting something for free to go watch the team you "support"
Maybe some fans should start putting terms and conditions with their payment method

Why these so called supporters can't just take their own toilet roll, ponchos, hand sanitiser, hand towels and wellies to games I'll never know.
You'd think if it was that much of an unpleasent experience they'd fcuk somewhere else and "support" another team!
We don't need these sorts of "fans"

Re: Cardiff to subsidise travel costs to Burnley
Ahhh so you are changing it now from almost free travel to toilet roll.
You really need to get over the puddles, next season when you have a new hobby and it rains your feet will still get wet. Still as you intelligently put it at least you are showing them by ****ing off elsewhere. People who sit around you have had a right result.

I've simply shared them adding an incentive to fans to travel for their biggest game of the season.
Also applauded the gesture all the same when others questioned why they'd need to put on cheap travel.
I think you've got all confused, I'm not "getting a new hobby" I'm not "fcuking off elswhere", so you reading things not there, or assuming things really don't make sense.
Don't tar us all with the same part time, all talk no walk brush Mr ironically "claret on the coast"
Ps feel free to quote where I said what next time, then read it again, it's easier then you'll realise you've made a mistake before you reply.

You have said (repeatedly) how you put a NO on your renewal and gave it the club so I did presume you would be doing something else on home match days from your usual routine, so agreed I did presume. I mean you aren't surely going to watch the home games in the pub or at home are you ? I imagined then you would be doing something else, fair do's if you arent'.
Tried making sense of your all talk no walk line means and no idea what is ironic about living on a coast, as an island some people will.
Re: Cardiff to subsidise travel costs to Burnley
Ah so if I'm not renewing it means I will no longer support Burnley or follow football so will need a new hobby? I can see your logic, but it's miles away from what the reality will be.claretonthecoast1882 wrote:You have said (repeatedly) how you put a NO on your renewal and gave it the club so I did presume you would be doing something else on home match days from your usual routine, so agreed I did presume. If I can't make away games I watch it live on TV, so that will still continue.
And I referred to you living on the coast as I'd presume you don't go on all Burnley games whether that's home/away/both, so for you to be giving your 2 penneth to others that aren't renewing seems ironic.
But if by chance you don't miss any Burnley games, I hold my hands up and apologies in advance.

No you are right I do miss games, Southampton away was one (due to european game) and Burton in the cup so far this season.
Re: Cardiff to subsidise travel costs to Burnley
Well read my posts again as to why I'm giving up my season ticket, it might enlighten you to the several reasons I'm not renewing. Whilst you were doing so, you'd see I made the decision after the greatest season Burnley have had for 50 years and following a European campaign of sorts, not just because we have lost a few games.claretonthecoast1882 wrote:Apologies I didn't think when you made it known you were giving up going due it being a crap experience you would then be watching the same product on TV. And watchingfootball on TV is poles apart from watching live for me, but if the experience in your eyes is the same whether flicking the TV on at 14:55 and a day/weekend for the football, then fair enough.
