Re: Is May going to resign today?
As a supposedly 'leading' politician shown herself to be incredibly limited across the spectrum, with the exception of being mindbogglingly stubborn.
Can't she her going just yet.
Nobody else would touch the job anyway at the mo.

Once she closes the door of 10 Downing Street this is what'll happen:

It’s a shame she played the dance card early. She could have done with that for her 8pm speech.
Oh well, back to meaningless statements then.

Re: Is May going to resign today?
No.
Not yet.
She is gonna tell us that if MP’s don’t back her DEAL next week, then it will be NO DEAL on the 29th.
Tusk and the EU now playing hardball.
They have had enough.
If I have got this right there is another (unlikely) option.
She could ask the EU for a 2 year extension?
- to give her (someone ?) time to sort out the mess.
I guess they will say no to that, they don’t want it dragging on.
Neither does she.
If she softens her Deal, then more Labour MP’s might vote for it..?
Is that what 17.4 million (52%) voted for. I don’t think so.
Looking like NO DEAL to me.

Re: Is May going to resign today?
So the EU will only allow an extension if MP's vote for Mays deal but Bercow has already said he won't allow that deal to be put forward again. Must be a no deal then I guess?

Nothing to do with deals, unpalatable or otherwise.
We are in the middle of a constitutional crisis and he walks out because someone that left the Labour Party was also there.

But what is the point in trying to talk to Theresa May at this stage? The stupid woman has made it clear she is unwilling to talk or compromise with anyone in any way at all.Claretincraven wrote:Because, like a child, he walked out of a meeting for the reason that Chuka Umunna was invited.

She absolutely should after that.
You can't attack Parliament for doing its job.
Its a desperate attack on our parliamentary democracy and if her MPs had any balls, they'd be giving her both barrels right now.

Re: Is May going to resign today?
Everytime I think she couldn’t sink any lower and become somehow more inept she manages to surprise me. At least the country should sleep easier tonight knowing she is ‘on our side.’
I was getting worried we weren’t ‘in it together’ anymore.

Re: Is May going to resign today?
While Corbyn has made himself look a little silly walking out it really hasn’t made a blind bit of difference to anything. May has basically spent the last five months parroting exactly the same thing in the face of everyone telling her she’s wrong. I’m thinking she post on this board under the name of Wrongo!

No deal is the only solution to this mess to save democracy in this country, the deal on offer is not Theresa's deal it's the only deal that the EU see fit and parliament keep rejecting it.

Re: Is May going to resign today?
I think it all comes down to a second referendum. Start dusting off your sandals, your yellow vests, and your prawn sandwiches everyone.
May's deal will only get an extension when passed. May's deal won't get passed, and when a no deal exit is the last stop on the line, parliament will have a choice between revoking article 50, or calling another referendum. We could also have another election, but there won't be a majority enough for that in parliament, so we come to the final endgame - though by the way politicians flap this way and that we might be forgiven for not seeing the wood for the trees.
If we don't allow no deal, nor another election, and the EU don't give us an extension; then it's second referendum. Because our government won't kill Article 50.
That's what I think.

They've already voted against another referendum so that's dead in the water because Bercow doesn't want continual votes about the same subject.
