Downfall (Film)
After seeing all the various parodies for years, I thought it would be funny to see the actual scene used.
After five minutes I thought what the heck and went back to the start. What a damm good film. Very powerful.

So basically you watched a film which has been out for years and wanted us to know about it. Wow, thanks for that.

This is your first contribution to the board since October, and it's to act like a tosser to someone who wants to talk about a film they watched.Clarinetclaret wrote:So basically you watched a film which has been out for years and wanted us to know about it. Wow, thanks for that.

Outstanding film
Pretty relevant as well as it shows what a "bunker mentality" can do to people in the face of rapidly approaching reality.

Hey don't blame me, blame Film 4 for scheduling it for Monday night!Beautifully dragged back to sport... I mean brexit
Its is the perfect metaphor for the current situation though, which means the scheduler on Film 4 is a genius and predicting all this.
But back to the film, it would take a hell of an actor, script and director to pull off anything that made Hitler look normal at times while also managing to portray that he was a gibberling loon just bubbling under the surface but they did it.

Re: Downfall (Film)
Just taking a break from work and logged in.
Clarinet - grow up.
IT - thank you.
Part of the reason I found it so powerful was remembering being stood on the site of said bunker last year and picturing what went on around it and now I can picture what must have been going on under that area.
No great new insight I know, but very interesting to me.

I was so looking forward to watching this film when it came out, but some idiot told me the ending.
Spoiler Alert: The Nazis lose the war.

Excellent film, 1 of the better 1s, bridge at remagen, Stalingrad, a bridge too far, & schindlers list are equally as good WW2 films.
Re: Downfall (Film)
Top top film. Bruno Ganz put in one of the best performances I’ve seen.
More should watch it, for me the best war film out there.

Re: Downfall (Film)
Aye, election coming up, a clueless Leader fighting yesterday's battles, surrounded by " yes men " acolytes. Many of his Officers & troops untrusting of his leadership & tactics, whilst others have left the Bunker or deserted. Now left largely reliant on fanatical brainwashed teenagers, corralled by hard core believers fighting street by street .... it must be tough for Mr Corbyn !!Lancasterclaret wrote:Outstanding film
