Bring Tripps Home

Rumours that Spurs are looking to sell Trippier this summer. With Tripps saying how much he loved it here and how much he’d like to play for Dyche and Burnley again it’s got to be worth a try to get the deal done.

Yes wages would be difficult, yes £20m is a lot for us to spend on a right back but what a boost and sign of intent he would be!

We would never pay the fees and wages whatever league we are in next season.

Everton reported as going in with £20m. That’s us out.

Not necessarily. Throwing Pope into the deal will massively help with the fee and the wages for Walters and Wells would cover Tripps’ wage.

They just need to sign Mee and Taylor and they’ll have a good back four.

Would absolutely love for him to come back.

Best deliverer of a cross in the country. Barnes, Wood and Crouchy (if he is still here) would be banging them in.

Barnes and Wood would struggle to hit the cricketfield stand with the best of crosses. Neither of them are even average headers of a ball.

Hasn’t pushed on at all, not good enough for a team wanting to win the title.

Everton would suit him just fine.

Would give Wood the chance to thank somebody different for a great cross that he didn’t attack.

Trippier would be a real good signing for us. Smashing player with excellent delivery. I despair at watching JBG on the right wing having to stop pull it back onto his left foot and plant it on the Centre Halves head.
Tottenham got him cheap from us and I wonder if we could get a similar deal fom them. Probably not.

He would have to defend too much at Burnley so not getting the best out of him.
Everton would be a great place for him, especially if they sign Rondon as rumoured.

Everton would be a strange move for him. Their current right back is club captain and is still only 30.

I love Trippier, think he’s one of the best players I’ve ever seen play for us.

But £20m on a 28 year old right back? No. That sort of money could be invested so much more wisely.

Why would he come to Burnley? He would be an attractive prospect for every team in the League other than perhaps Man City. Do the mathematic.

Trippier could play right side midfield for us as he has done for England. He would make us a better team no question.

I think his England days are over if everyone is fit. If Southgate wants to play a back 4 then Walker, TAA and the lad at Palace are probably all ahead of him.

His England days are over? Really? It was only 8 months ago that he was scoring in the World Cup semi final. Sure he’s not kicked on this season but his Englans day’s are obviously not over and a player without a single England cap to his name is definitely not ahead of him.

Would love to see him back here...but at this point I don’t really see it happening.

If he was to come back then we would probably have to throw either Pope or Tarkowski into the deal and accept that Tripp’s wages will be the highest we’ve ever paid to a player.

The effect on the fans would be amazing- it’d create a massive “buzz” and would show the fans that the board do actually mean business and to push on. It’d prove to Dyche that it is worth staying here and developing the team further and pushing on to become a solid, recognised, top ten team.

It would also likely mean the end of Lowton’s time at the club; I can’t see him wanting to hang around being back up to Trippier again...that’d mean we’d need to look for a Young right back who is willing to play second fiddle for a couple of years and develop slowly.

If you want a wing back I'd say he's as good an option as any in this country, but this season has shown he just isn't good enough defensively to play as a right back at the very top level. He's cost Spurs the games at home to City and United and I'm not surprised by the reports that they're looking to offload him.

Very harsh to suggest that.

Ive always rated walker more highly. But trippier is still a very talented, hard working amd committed player. Still easily good enough for England.

His crossing in partucular is exceptional. As is his touch and energy.

Easily still good enough for Spurs and England.

He's great going forward, I just don't think he's good enough defensively for the very top level. He has had a really poor season though, hopefully he's just knackered after the World Cup and a decent break this summer will sort him out

Nixon tweeted us and Brighton interested in Bogle (right back) at Derby, big money he says. Think we were linked in January. Not having the usual UTC dig but I can't see us competing at all in the PL transfer market for much longer. Fees and wages are inflating even in the EFL. Sounds like there some real cash flow problems in the championship, Derby been one of them and they reckon Villa will be drastically cutting their wage bill too.

To be fair. If we arent going to try and compete for esta lished players, looking at the likes of bogle is s very sensible route.

Nixon later tweeted we want Reece James on loan should we survive.

Sensible move IMO, loan the right back and use the real money on the more pressing positions such as central midfield. Then sort it permanently in January/Summer 2020.
