Antique Valuations
Antique Valuations
I’m currently doing a house clearance for a relative in Burnley. There are lots of ornements and vases which they reckon are worth something. How or where can I get these valued without being ripped off?

Take them to an auction house. They will value them for free and sell them if you decide to do so. Most items at auction find their true value
Re: Antique Valuations
Check out any names and dates and signatures, all documentation on them, stories can accrue about value that aren't true, you might save a bit of trouble doing a bit of sorting out first.
There are photos of ceramic stamps on google etc.

Silverwoods Auctioneers Clitheroe
are probably the local firm with appropriatee xpertise to advise.
Speak to them and explain what you have and they will agree an appropriate way of dealing with what you have .

Re: Antique Valuations
If the ornaments etc have makers names/stamps on you could check eBay for any same/similar items and filter by 'completed' items.
Would give you some idea what price sellers were asking but more importantly what they actually sold for.

I think Silverwoods have a valuation afternoon on Mondays. But do bear in mind that they charge summat like 18% commission if you put your stuff with them to sell.
