I tend to agree with what Paul Ince said, there’s a fair few people who could have done what he’s done initially. The next 10 games & next season will be interesting - I’m not convinced by OGS

Makes you wonder if it's Fergie who's really pulling the strings as OGS wasn't pulling up any trees with his management record and only got offered the job because of his previous connections with Utd.

Imagine a club of that size choosing a manager from a club which is Championship level at best.

They certainly aren't going off his track record.

He's changed the mentality of the United fans I know.

Probably the best available choice*

*Pochettino not available

Plenty of managers have started out at the top before. Look at Pep. If he played for Majorca instead of Barca it’ll all be a far different story.

He's got a good team behind it in Phelan and Carrick.

Horses for courses.

Hes done enough to warrant it. He has done far better with the same team than a world class manager. He also has done it as a player. Like Zidane. So players cant question his inexperience.

Imagine he didnt get it.

Theyve tried Van Gaal, Moyes and Mourinho. 3 different types of experienced manager. Fair play for doing it imo.

Maybe they should have gone for Brian Laws then

It's win/win.

They appoint a Manager the fans have been calling for AND save a fortune by not appointing a so called 'A List' manager on the salary commanded by Mourinho, Van Gaal etc.

Will be interesting to see how he handles it when results don’t go for them. A good squad expressing themselves after being shackled by Mourinho. Let’s see if it lasts. A new approach by the club though.

The summer transfers will be interesting - Solkjaer will just accept what he’s given.

who is the better manager...?
OGS, who supervised a relegation with Cardiff, but at Manyoo has had the talent at his disposal and has basically said "go and express yourselves"
SD, who has to galvanize a squad of players to over-perform their individual skill levels into a collative team effort, week-in/week-out (and often fails)

Some managers just suit certain clubs. It’s quite possible that it will work out for OGS given his history with Utd. Who knows if Dyche would be able to achieve with unlimited resources? Same argument for if Pep was in charge of the Clarets.

OGS is more than likely being mentored by Ferguson.

He's done what supposed better and more experienced managers have failed to do and he's got them playing good football again, whilst making OT a better place to be for both players and fans.

He took a chance offered to him and he's certainly better to listen to at interviews than the previous incumbent.

I'll hold my hands up though, because I didn't think he'd be able to do the job at Utd

Thing is, if you stick with OGS, there is always the possibility of Poch at another time.

However, bin off OGS and go for Poch now, where do you go if Poch doesn't work.... Giggs?

I think this is a sensible move tbh

Couldn't care less, but I suppose it will give Sky Sports News the chance to talk about Manyoo all day and show every goal they have scored since cameras were invented.

It’s obvious that Phelan is the brains behind all of it! Maybe even Laws might have succeeded with Phelan’s help

If you take the managerial record of OGS in isolation there is no way any Premier league club would go anywhere near him so obviously he is receiving more help than is obvious to the public eye.
