Not in the least surprised, that will fix it. Never mind the history or national pride it represents. Is being a baffoon mandatory or just preferred to be employed there?

No it isn't unfortunately.
Isn't it also the FAs of the home Nations who make up a large portion of the lawmakers of the game itself?
Seeing as ours was the first actual FA, surely we are allowed to call ourselves The FA?

Has anyone truly thought this term (The FA) was “ arrogant “ ?
Seems utterly bizzare and unnecessary unless it’s skmat to do with other home nations doing their own thing ?
You can just imagine the meeting ...
“Perhaps we could just get rid of other outdated stuff like the 3 lions badge, and red and white is a bit “ Empire “ these days and surely a little inclusivivity ? Let’s have a rainbow themed badge that celebrates diversity and the abolishment of slavery and the LGBT communities contribution to the national team , while carefully observing that black people cant be gay “

Re: please tell me this is an April Fool come early
I have no problem with it at all, and it should be promoted as a total departure from English Colonial attitudes, a " new broom ", and to symbolise a move away from the time serving blazers and amateurish approach that has bedeviled this organisation for decades. They should also relinquish the FA's place on the International Football Association Board, which would render the Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish positions untenable ...
It should be announced in a major speech at FIFA, Organised Soccer with standard rules ( various men kicking a ball games have been played worldwide for Centuries ) has been Britain's gift to the world etc, reference the British ex-pats who brought the game with them, the early British Coaches and we now feel that we should take our place as equal partners etc, etc, It'll bring the house down, there won't be a dry eye in the place, all the delegates will spontaneously burst out singing " Jerusalem " and we'll get the 2030 World Cup on the nod .... Simple, job done !!
More seriously, it's long overdue and the RFU and the " Open " Golf Championship should swiftly follow suit ..

Will The Open be renamed?
Re: please tell me this is an April Fool come early
Will we put the country name on our stamps?
Will the Army, the Royal Navy, and the Royal Air Force be renamed?
The Derby?
To me, all these things are country-less because they were the first of their kind (OK, I don't know quite how the Army argues that!) and it's about history, not arrogance. But if Greg Clarke wants to sweep away the 150 years or so of history in order that he can leave his name stamped on the FA, to say "look at me, I am more important that 150 years of history" - then I suppose it would be hard to argue that he isn't an expert in arrogance!

They did the same thing with the football league, which is now the EFL.
Basically it has to be down to money because let’s face it everything in football is, I presume being called the EFA will make the FA more profitable in China or somewhere. If there’s more money to be had they’d change it to anything. The rich get richer.

Real do, hopefully kick Cardiff, Swansea, Newport and Wrexham out of their respective divisions

Whilst I am not that bothered I think his justification for the change is a bit weak. If it is simply a case of "hi I am Martin Glenn from the FA" to which they have to ask which one; as being seen as arrogant then the solution is quite simple. When in that type of environment just prefix the FA with English and everybody is happy. Sorted.

I don't really give a toss what they're called so long as they do their job right.
Sadly that's not happening anyway.

Then the sweaties could kick Berwick out of theirs and replace one of themVegas Claret wrote:Real do, hopefully kick Cardiff, Swansea, Newport and Wrexham out of their respective divisions

Interestingly, Colwyn Bay are moving to the Welsh league at the end of this season.
Just leaves Cardiff, Swansea, Newport, Wrexham and Merthyr Town in the English system.
If we did dispose of all of these, they might have to give us Oswestry based TNS back in return, as well as Newcastle AFC, Trefonen FC and Bishop's Castle Town who are all Shropshire based but playing in the Welsh league (thanks Wikipedia).
