Charlie Taylor

Post by jdrobbo » Sat Mar 30, 2019 5:01 pm

At times today, Taylor was absolutely run ragged by Traore. However, it should be said, that you can’t fault a player for being naturally slower than an opponent. What I do think though, is that Taylor pushed him out wide, defended the spaces brilliantly and recovered so very well, time and time again.

He was the best player in a Burnley shirt for me today and his performance epitomised the Burnley grit that we desperately need at this stage.

I’m a huge fan of his and I’m so pleased that he is getting better and better i’m a huge fan of his and I’m so pleased that he’s getting better and better as the season progresses. Well played that man!

I seem to remember it wasn't just myself who was suggested (and was shot down) at us signing Chris Wood and Charlie Taylor. You backed me up and thought we should have signed them as well.

My brother-in-law and many of my friends are Leeds fans and have been ribbing me saying they're going to sign them both back when we go down and they go up. They are definitely going up, but I'm confident we won't be going down!

I spoke with a Leeds lad just after we signed Wood and Taylor. He said Wood is ok but Taylor will play for England.

All the posters who moan, a little, at our transfer window activity need to remember that some of the players we've signed take a season or so to get into the starting XI and some need another half-season to show that they have true Premier League class.

Class act from all the defence today.

Was one who wasnt sure of him. But he has really progressed.

He was actually better going forwards today. But had a good game.

Also put his body on the line more than once.

Was overjoyed when we signed Taylor. Wards form kept him out but now the shirt is most definitely his. Has grown throughout the season and now he seems more comfortable defending his attacking play is starting to show through. Also think having a winger in front of him who is always looking to attack the flank rather than tracking back with the ball or going in field has helped

I live next door to a season ticket holder - reckoned neither would be good enough for the Premier League.

Not sure of his contract situation but I am sure he wont be here next season. He will be on a decent wage as he has been on the journey for us for a few years and been an integral part so I am sure his wages reflect that contribution.

Would like a younger player as back up as Taylor probs has one more season before he is picked up by a big club for a decent fee. But suspecr we will pick up a Bardsley type signing as most of our money this summer should be going on strengthening our midfield

Fantastic performance. Just pipping Tarky for my man of the match.

I think Factual Frank once suggested that we signed him by the way.

At the time it was a no brainer really. A player with lots of potential playing very well and running down his contract. Thought we did well getting him as many clubs will have been in for him for the estimated price of 5m at a tribunal

it's the model I'd like to see the club use more, younger, hungrier players with huge potential to improve. He's been our most improved player this season

Defending 1v1 against Traore is virtually an impossible job. When you take into account what was physically possible, Taylor put in a quality modern fullback performance. He’s a seriously good player these days.

Taylor was brilliant today. He had very little help from anyone else trying to deal with Traore, still did a top job.

There were 3 on traore at one point and he still found a way through , thought Troaore was their best player and was happy to see him subbed

£18 million is a bargain in today's world. Not sure the reported 100k a week is though.

If I had 1 small criticism of Taylor today it's there were a couple of 50 50 balls he went in for great but the ball bounced to one of there players. Could he have made sure eh putting the ball and if need be the player into touch?

He was fantastic today against a player who was quick, strong and skilful. At 60 minutes Taylor looked knackered, then I realised it was because Traore was just so quick - glad when he went off.

Excellent player now, come on in leaps and bounds this season.

If there is any criticism, he needs to use his right foot a bit more. It gets him into a difficult situation sometimes and loses him the advantage every now and then.

Hey, nobody's perfect though.

Wonder if the young lad we've got on loan at Swindon will be deemed good enough for back up yet next season

Would do us no harm if he is a decent prospect. With Mee being able to play there if the worst came to the worst and depending on Bradys situation (personally would let him leave) we have cover. Would save 30-35k (rough guess) on Wards wages and possibly enable us to push the boat out in other areas
