I'd have been tempted to ask the Thai (I think) taxi driver who took them 500 miles for £35...to drive me all the way to Singapore. 1,500 miles to go at that stage. The couple who got that taxi had the budget to times that by 3. Even offer 5% of winnings on top.
I suppose visas could have been an issue.
For those who enjoyed the series, try reading some of the travel books by Levison Wood....top notch stuff

Re: Race around the world ...
I wanted to strangled the young lad at first. Moping and moaning about everything. Watching him come out of his shell because his Dad stepped back to make him get involved was great to watch. Seeing father and son develop their bond was superb tvDCWat wrote:Daz has been a good mate of mine for the last fifteen years. He’s really into travelling (cycled from Norway to Malta a few years back) so this was a great opportunity for him and Alex, especially after they grew apart and Alex stayed with his Mum.
Heard a few interesting, behind the scenes, stories about the trip. It wouldn’t be one for me, 36 hours on a cramped train - my arse aches too much after four hours on Jet2 - but I’ll definitely be looking to visit some of the places on the show.
It’ll be interesting to see what offers they get on the back of it. I know that a couple of clothing brands have been in touch but who knows, perhaps a bit more tele - not that he’s really a limelight sort of person.

Looking forward to it, perfect Sunday night TV. I'd love to go South America at some point so should be interesting.

Been waiting for this for ages. Imagine this could be even more interesting as from what I can see South America would be far harder to navigate than Europe and Asia.

Loved my two trips to South America, and would love to go back.
In fact, had my missus not fallen pregnant, Central America (Guatemala and Nicaragua) would have been our next trip.
Not managed to get back since...
