It's all unsustainable.
Not sure what the answer is other than a few clubs go.

The Premier League gives more than that to Leagues 1 and 2 already.

That'll maybe explain why they have shafted me on my Acca these past two games
As for Premier League money I can't ever see it happening to support clubs free spending and the longer it goes on the more clubs will be forced to go part time, Perhaps it's the right thing anyway as there are too many clubs chasing the rainbow.

you should read up on Andy Holt raised on Stoops estate and now Chairman/owner of Accy Stanley - if the press want someone in the football league to tell them how messed up footbal finances are he is the first port of call and happy to contributeAlargeClaret wrote:I’m no socialist but there just has to be a money stream coming down through the leagues from the bloated money madness in the prem . Agree, i can't see money getting distributed downhill not to the extent of survival, players get paid obscene amounts i get it's a short career some go into coaching & media work afterwards, but do they need in excess of 50k a week to survive that's for a top player, you could sensibly save & retire & live comfortably afterwards with that sum, but the club's pay this so i don't know, it's a perpetual circle of greed with no immediate answers.JohnMac wrote:That'll maybe explain why they have shafted me on my Acca these past two games

Why its incredible we're where we are. It was always meant to be the end of clubs like ours when Jimmy Hill championed the end to Max wages, then the Bosman fella sent it into orbit.Jakubclaret wrote:Agree, i can't see money getting distributed downhill not to the extent of survival, players get paid obscene amounts i get it's a short career some go into coaching & media work afterwards, but do they need in excess of 50k a week to survive that's for a top player, you could sensibly save & retire & live comfortably afterwards with that sum, but the club's pay this so i don't know, it's a perpetual circle of greed with no immediate answers.
Football needs to take a long hard look at itself and decide what it wants, FFP is all well and good but its time a limited was put on spend in some version of what they do in the US. I know we're not set up for a draught sytem, but a set max budget for the seasons competition ( they have similar in Speedway, or did)

Hope they're OK, good club Bury.
Stans old club as well.
Reading that article it seems their financial troubles go deeper than people thought.

Re: Bury : No Wages
Over the past few seasons, clubs going under has become more common and it's climbing the football pyramid. It won't be long before a League Two club falls by the wayside. The wages being paid for 4th tier football, with sometimes crowds only just in four figures isn't sustainable. I would hazard a guess there aren't many countries running four professional leagues (and most of the National League sides are full time now, madness). I hope Bury can over come their issues, but I did think a couple of years ago when they moved into Man City's old training complex they had ideas above their probable budget.
Re: Bury : No Wages
Another club that wasted money in the past when they didn't have it. Plus the amount of stick when they were above us in league status was horrendous, horrible gobshites or am i biased?

They need to pool resources with the other car crash club and merge. Burton.

Too many clubs in the northwest.
Lets swallow them all up and become a northern powerhouse.
We could have a 2bn stadium to smash spurs out of the water.

Re: Bury : No Wages
I saw the Chris Brass one last week. They must owe him a lot of money. He’s back working at Burnley now of course.
The new owner only bought Bury just before Christmas. His due diligence must have been lax.

If they paid sensible wages then they might be able to afford to pay them.

Re: Bury : No Wages
I was working with a Bury fan at the start of last season when they were spending a lot of money. He said at the time that nobody really knew where the money was coming from and most fans thought the owner had borrowed using the club as security.
I think I posted on here about it at the time that it was a disaster waiting to happen.
The problems there are definitely a legacy of the previous owner.

The due diligence bit is an interesting one - things can get hidden in the accounts which don't come to light until the feet get under the table - take Cambridge for instance - https://twitter.com/KieranMaguire/statu ... 9523612673" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - the real questions in these circumstances are have the auditors been complicit, lacking in rigour, duped or been persuaded of the legitimacy of the approach. I would be asking serious questions

Re: Bury : No Wages
2017 accounts for Cambridge were unaudited (they're not big enough to require one) and filleted so there wasn't anyone to pick up the discrepancies and you can't tell much from what is filed.Chester Perry wrote:The due diligence bit is an interesting one - things can get hidden in the accounts which don't come to light until the feet get under the table - take Cambridge for instance - https://twitter.com/KieranMaguire/statu ... 9523612673" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - the real questions in these circumstances are have the auditors been complicit, lacking in rigour, duped or been persuaded of the legitimacy of the approach. Due diligence should involve much more than a look at the accounts though. Done properly you should have unfettered access to accounting systems, bank accounts, permission to contact suppliers/customers, etc
Often not done properly though, just look at Autonomy and HP.

A very clear statement from the new owner of Bury about the ****-show they bought - (be aware that the previous owner has had at lest 3 of his companies put into administration in the last month and likely that more will follow) - it is obvious they have been talking a lot to Andy Holt at Accrington, he will have urged them to be as transparent with the fans as possible - which they are being here

Bury are in a right old mess. We should be grateful to the people who have been running our club over the last 20 years. I hope the new chairman who seems genuine and has the best interest of the club at heart, can keep things ticking over

I am sure the same was said about us not so long ago - these clubs often represent the soul of their communities and for the PL, FA, EFL and even PFA to stand by and allow these owners to bet the ranch without any comeback except to the fans is a sad inictment of their responsibilities and society in general. Whether performance on the field is good or bad, betting the ranch for your own ego is just wrong in football, the club has to remain for the fansbfcjg wrote:All these teeny tiny clubs including Blackburn really ought to go part time.
