Re: Your 5 favourite Clarets of all time
Steve Harper - I know it doesn't make any sense. Every year there was a 3-5 game purple patch where he was unplayable. The rest of the season he might as well not have been on the field. It says everything about his career that the best goal he ever scored got wiped from the record books when Aldershot went under.
Inchy - I was lucky to get into the changing room before a game and he was really welcoming and funny. He was also merciless in some taking the **** banter with John Pender. Top bloke.
Glen Little - Probably the one player who I thought would have an extended premier league career. Took over matches and all while constantly in a state of falling over but never actually hitting the floor.
Kieran Trippier. Early on I looked at him and said to many people that he would end up playing for England. I like him because he proved me right (and I'm often so very, very wrong). Left it all on the pitch every game and when he did leave us did so in a classy manner.
Ian Wright. I still can't believe he played for us. Every goal he scored was so important in our chase for promotion and I get to wind up my Arsenal supporting mates by relentlessly referring to him as 'Burnley legend Ian Wright'.

Re: Your 5 favourite Clarets of all time
Good to see so many mentioning glen little, I think his type is sorely missing from the game these days. Everyone's athletic and anodyne, but someone with a languid style who uses a bit of guile to beat a man or create a chance is so much more entertaining. At the higher level, Matt le Tissier, Waddle, Hoddle, Dennis Bergkamp to name a few; people who show imagination on the pitch seems to be lost to running stats.

Re: Your 5 favourite Clarets of all time
Little- Loved at every club he's played at and different class for us.
Blake- His performance against Tottenham is the best performance I've seen from a Burnley player. Also a different class for us and returned to add to his own legend with the promotion under Coyle.
Tripps- Bought into the club completely, had great desire and showed that he was a future England right back.
Duff- Bought for peanuts and aged like a fine wine. Bit of a weird one because he was never a great player through most of his time here. A lot of fans (myself included) have a bit of cult status for him, partly because he was terrific in his later years, contributing massively to our success, but also partly for that dance when we won in the play offs. Also see the below for more.
Scott Arfield- Scored big goals in his whole time here and I thought he was a great player that proved a lot of people wrong. Will always remember the goal at Ewood and the celebration with him and Duff hand in hand running towards us.

Re: Your 5 favourite Clarets of all time
There are some great nominations-I did mine without scrolling down first. Having just done that it has made me realise how as a club we were really blessed with a big number of legends. I was in my selection very influenced by watching the team in the late 60's early 70's when we were quite a formidable team for any opposition. Thanks BFC for the memories

Re: Your 5 favourite Clarets of all time
In my 60th season watching the Clarets, with some gaps, so I am bending the rules.
Old times:-
Tommy Cummins - coz I bought beer off him and he scored a memorable goal at the Bee Hole end in his final season.
John Angus - coz I bought buckets, spades and fishing nets off him and he was cool, collected and quietly hard. I remember him bouncing Dave Mackay across the ed shale track in front of the Longside.
John Connelly - coz I bought fish and chips off him, saw him score many great goals and he was part of the World Cup winning squad.
Brian Miller - coz I delivered milk to him and he served the club so well.
Jimmy McIlroy - coz he would have sold me a dummy at any time.
Honourable mentions to Jimmy Robson (scored 5 on my first match), Brian O'Neill, Frank Casper,Ralph Coates, Martin Dobson and Peter Noble
Recent times:-
Arfield
Duff
Trippier
Heaton
Barnes
Honourable mentions for Barton, Jones, Marney, Elliot, Vokes

Re: Your 5 favourite Clarets of all time
For me this must be split into two groups, because I missed a whole generation due to exploring the new world and getting footy news over ‘ere was like pulling teeth for quite some time until the Internet came along and games were available on telly. I’ll call them “old school’ and ‘new school’.
Old School:
Brian O’Neil
Colin Waldron
Jimmy Mac
Martin Dodson
Andy Lochhead
New School:
Tom Heaton
Robbie Blake
Ashley Barnes
Joey Barton
Kieran Trippier
