Been given an extra month so sort out a ground for next season - as talks about a new rental agreement at the Ricoh are about to begin

Re: Coventry close to liquidation
You really have to question the logic of SISU owners of Coventry City - after prolonged wrangling (and repeated losses in the courts) they were very close to extending their stay at the Ricoh, now it has all fallen over again
statement from Wasps - owners of the Ricoh

EU reveal they are investigating sale of Ricoh following a complaint

Statement from SISU theough the club
https://www.ccfc.co.uk/news/2019/may/ne ... ith-wasps/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Endgame is - should the EU find in the complaints favour it would mean Wasps would have to pay Coventry City Council the difference - why would that make them more amenable to reducing Coventry City's rent to use the Ricoh

Re: Coventry close to liquidation
The fault at Coventry lies 100% at the foot of the leagues administration.
The owners of Coventry are a company that makes money out of distressed situations / companies. That is their way of making money.
They sue 100 times and hope to make enough compensation through 20 successful claims to wright off the other 80.
They should never have be allowed to own a football club.

What a horrible mess this is and, as always, total disregard for those who actually matter, the fans.

Subject to them not coming to an agreement over the Ricoh and that’s looking unlikely.Chester Perry wrote:Will be playing at St Andrews next season

Re: Coventry close to liquidation
About 2 weeks ago here in Milton Keynes I got chatting to to a very well known footballer who although he is well known for playing for a top division club many years ago he also used to play for Coventry
He also told me about the chairman at the time of the sale let's just say making some money on the deal

Used to enjoy going to Highfield Road. I'm not of a fan of many of the new grounds tbh but I think the Ricoh is definitely one of the worst. Probably mainly because it's always been half empty.

Ricoh stadium is awful and no matter how many are in there you get more atmosphere on the moon
And it always seems so bloody cold in there for some reason and I have been cold there in August

Talks about Coventry staying at the Ricoh have collapsed (again) - so the club is set to confirm home games at St Andrews next season

Re: Coventry close to liquidation
Surely the big news here is that St Andrew's has been renamed the Trillion Trophy Stadium which has got to the most ironic name for a club whose trophy cabinet looks like this:

If they ever win anything, will they change it to the "Trillion and One Trophy Stadium"?Sausage wrote:Surely the big news here is that St Andrew's has been renamed the Trillion Trophy Stadium which has got to the most ironic name for a club whose trophy cabinet looks like this:

Re: Coventry close to liquidation
They sold Highfield Road because successive chairmen had overspent maintaining topflight status for 33 years ..to say that they built the new ground to befitt their perceived status is a bit ridiculous given they'd dropped out of the topflight in 2001 and were a mid-table 2nd tier club when the Ricoh opened ... save for a couple of years in the late 60s Cov have never been a well supported club they simply overspent year after year after year so they sold Highfield Rd and the Sky Blue tavern site with a view to clearing their cash flow difficulties ..guess what renting a stadium just doesn't work... and they are my 2nd club always have been - it is very sadWoodleyclaret wrote:Major problems with the owners of the Ricoh and Coventry.
This is a real carcrash of a club.Left Highfield Road sold off by the then owners.Built a new ground that they felt befitted their status and a series of incompetent directors and owners have wrecked a once successful club.
Now they may have to play games elsewhere as they no longer own their ground.
Its very sad .I always saw Coventry as a similar club to us and their fans were always very friendly.
Chris Eagles played well there last time we played there.

Have you read Chester Perry’s post with an article from the guardian above. Chester is pretty good at digging up this kind of thing. Not Steve is it ? (Username)

Re: Coventry close to liquidation
Yes I've seen it .. and I keep an eye on the Sky Blues forum and the Coventry Telegraph ...but they seem to have a major problem grasping why Highfield Road was sold in the first place or accepting the reality ..Sky blues were consistently one of the worst supported clubs in the topflight that they lasted 33 years having never reached that level before was a fine achievement but hanging on by the skin of your teeth ,probably 20 odd years out of 33 doesn't make them a big club ? before Sisu took over they were already in a state ...now Sisu appear to be the owners from hell no doubt about that ..
