Burnley had a net spend of only £7 million in 2017/18 so to achieve their final legal position on such as modest outlay is a testament to the management, coaching team and commitment of the players.

unsure about this though think its worded wrong.

Barring a miracle they will be in the Premier League in 2019/20 where once again they will fly under the radar, accumulating points but getting little credit for doing this without handouts from owners.

Certainly a very well run organisation
Taking those figures over the last 4 years shows just how important staying in the Premier League is (figures for our year when relegated clearly show this)
Whilst we did spend some significant amounts of monies on new players/wages in the summer, none of these additions currently plays in the first team and I think that reflects in our current league position ie a starting eleven has to be improved upon every season
First of all, hoping that we maintain Premier League status, but also that our achilles heel on recruitment is finally put right this summer

Virtually the same as Bournemouth.

In that financial year we added the likes of Cork, Wood, Wells, Walters etc. at a cost of over £43m.

All those would be depreciated over one year of their contract terms.

Frightening figures for those 4 players

Is that with or without wages and/or signing on fees?

On a side note we paid 8.5m in tax, that's a good players 3 year salary.

Bonuses are now consolidated within the Total Wage figure in the accounts.

It makes the Wage graph in the link somewhat misleading in that the 2016 figure of £27.1m excludes bonuses. They ought to have increased that figure by £12.2m in order to represent a fair comparison to the latest figures.

The "etc" in Roy's post will include any fees paid for Lennon, Taylor and Bardsley as well which probably accounts for the difference. The compensation we had to pay for Taylor was reported as £6-7m.
