Re: Wage Bill is 59M
I would hate it but we are probably going to have to sell tarks in the summer to finance the upgrade of our below standard cm. We will bring in someone line Schindler at cb.
Re: Wage Bill is 59M
I see that Dyche was repeating this after the Chelsea match. A little disingenuous.

Tarks will go for what 35-40 million ?summitclaret wrote:I would hate it but we are probably going to have to sell tarks in the summer to finance the upgrade of our below standard cm. We will bring in someone line Schindler at cb.
Plenty of players we can get rid of before Tarks that would comfortably get us to half that amount

A total of £82m which represents a 33% increase on the previous year. An increase very few will have predicted.

But no one would have predicted the £41 million in the Champions promotion year either.
Bonuses aren't a new thing for us.

Re: Wage Bill is 59M
Guys, if Burnley pays wages of £60 million to the first team squad, the government will collect employer's national insurance of £8.28 million (charged at 13.8%). Let's add £5 million for Sean Dyche and his coaching staff - again, plus ERS NI of £0.7m - we are now at £74 million reported in the financial accounts under "wages and salaries."
Let's assume that Sean was speaking of wages without including bonuses - we've only got another £5 million left for 1st team squad bonuses (add ERS NI, again). There's not much left for the rest of the playing staff - and the backroom/club admin.
I don't play FIFA football manager. Do the club budgets you've got to play with include stuff like social security taxes?

Re: Wage Bill is 59M
The £41m for 2016 was entirely predictable, a basic of £28m plus £13m bonuses. The 2015 figure was £29m so a realistic increase from the previous year with a promotion bonus included.Bin Ont Turf wrote:But no one would have predicted the £41 million in the Champions promotion year either.

The real surprise for some of us has been the subsequent two year increase since then from £41m to £82m. I think that's the point to which aggi refers.
Re: Wage Bill is 59M
Because it doesn't match up to what the wages were or will be. Just because we pay part of our wages as a bonus doesn't mean that it's not still wages.Bin Ont Turf wrote:Why?

Re: Wage Bill is 59M
If it was 'entirely predictable' in 2016, then it should have been for this last year. It's the wage bill that has doubled in that time, not the bonuses.Royboyclaret wrote:The £41m for 2016 was entirely predictable, a basic of £28m plus £13m bonuses. And it doesn't take a lot of working out why......... Defour, Brady, Cork, Wood, Walters, Bardsley and even Hendrick etc.
They weren't coming here for peanuts.

That only makes sense if we are expecting to finish in a European spot.aggi wrote:Because it doesn't match up to what the wages were or will be. Just because we pay part of our wages as a bonus doesn't mean that it's not still wages.
Dyche mentioned the wage bill in response to Sideshow Bob's anti football comments.
Meaning that if we could throw the sort of money that Chelsea can and do at wages for players, then we would have better players and we wouldn't need to spend so much time defending and having just 20 odd % possession of the ball.

Re: Wage Bill is 59M
Dyche clarified his comments didn’t he? He mentioned the bonus as well.
Re: Wage Bill is 59M
The bonus in 2016-17, just for stopping up, was £12m wasn't it? I would have thought that much was paid again. Which leaves about £10m extra for the extra 10 places.

Re: Wage Bill is 59M
A fair point regarding the new players, but several players also were removed from the Wage bill during that time and the likes of Michael Keane and Andre Gray were not "on peanuts" either.Bin Ont Turf wrote:If it was 'entirely predictable' in 2016, then it should have been for this last year. Re: Wage Bill is 59M
The financial accounts to Jun'17 included a total Wage bill of £61.2m, there's no indication at all within those accounts or the notes to suggest the amount of bonuses paid for avoiding relegation.dsr wrote:The bonus in 2016-17, just for stopping up, was £12m wasn't it? The £12m bonus to which you refer I suspect is the previous year when the figure was itemised in the accounts.
Re: Wage Bill is 59M
No, it's a memory of what I believe Sean Dyche said was the bonus paid to the players for stopping up. Nothing to do with the 14-15 figure, which I think is what you're referring to - that was the promotion bonus.Royboyclaret wrote:The financial accounts to Jun'17 included a total Wage bill of £61.2m, there's no indication at all within those accounts or the notes to suggest the amount of bonuses paid for avoiding relegation.

Re: Wage Bill is 59M
There is an Upper Earnings Limit for NI contributions which is currently around £950 per week. The x thousands of £ paid above that UEL does not require any payment of National Insurance by either the player or the club.Paul Waine wrote:Guys, if Burnley pays wages of £60 million to the first team squad, the government will collect employer's national insurance of £8.28 million (charged at 13.8%). But it's linked to where we finished, which we get extra money for, so it is relevant.aggi wrote:Because it doesn't match up to what the wages were or will be. Just because we pay part of our wages as a bonus doesn't mean that it's not still wages.

Re: Wage Bill is 59M
Hi mik, the limit on the employers' contribution disappeared a long time back. There is no limit on ERS NIC - Burnley FC pays 13.8% to HMRC on every penny paid in wages (and bonuses and other benefits, if any) to the players above the LEL (lower earnings limit).bfcmik wrote:There is an Upper Earnings Limit for NI contributions which is currently around £950 per week. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/rates-and-t ... 19-to-2020" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Employers also have to pay NIC on employees who are still in work after their 65th birthday.
And, employees earning more than the upper earnings limit pay 2% NIC on the above limit portion of their weekly/monthly wage (except 65 and over).
If Burnley have a wage bill of £60 million, the government receives (approx), 45% tax + 2% EES NIC + 13.8% ERS NIC, £36 million of this figure. £28 million from the players and £8 million from the club.
