Re: Spurs announce Trippier release
If he’s available I’d at least ask, why not? It sounds ridiculous but ridiculous transfers happen. I remember when I heard Jack Wilshere was going to Bournemouth a couple of years ago, I found it implausible at the time.
Maybe they’d be open to a season loan for a fee and covering his salary (which, as a loan, we could maybe incorporate into the loan fee to not ‘upset the applecart’ as it were).

I don't think either of them are currently 'proven performers'. Tarkowski has been inconsistent, including downright poor, this season and Pope has not played a top flight game since his serious injury. They both have some way to go to be considered proven performers in my book.Long Time Lurker wrote: Pope is a proven performer. Tarks is another proven performer.
Trippier is 28 and whether we like it or not he will surely be looking for a final big pay day. He can do better then us as much as I like the idea.
Anyway, if you read the article Spurs are looking at allowing the sale of a lot of very good players - Wanyama, Sissoko for example - but they are not expected to let all of them go.

I think we can all agree that if there was any chance of us getting him SD would be on it, especially with their relationship.

It's not as ridiculous as people make out.
Come home, play every game, be adored by the fans, work for the best boss he's had, earn £50k+ pw.
Not ridiculous

Not a chance in hell , why on earth would a highly paid full Eng regular in his his very best years want to come back to relative peanuts and a small time club like ours ?? He’ll want biggest club he can get and some European football and rightly so . Some on here are literally blinded by whimsy and fantasy

He's not first choice for England and he wouldn't get in before Alexander-Arnold.AlargeClaret wrote:Not a chance in hell , why on earth would a highly paid full Eng regular in his his very best years want to come back to relative peanuts and a small time club like ours ?? I suspect he'll end up at a club, such as Everton. If he's not deemed good enough for Spurs his days playing for a top six club are probably over.

Re: Spurs announce Trippier release
The more financially astute on here might cast a different light on this, but could we not lure Tripps back with an upfront signing-on fee that makes up for a relatively lower monthly wage for the duration of his contract - hence, not putting our wage structure in jeopardy.
We know exactly what we're getting with Tripps, the only risk would be the same as to any other player - him getting injured.
He does come across as a bit of a homeboy - but surely his England chances won't be adversely affected by playing for us given the manager is practically a season ticket holder.
Having a right wing-back of this quality would transform our side and give us so much flexibility.

He's 'only' on 60k a week at Spurs, a wage we could afford to go to for a handful of players.

Love the thread headline. Spurs havent announced anything.
Re: Spurs announce Trippier release
Speak to his dad in bury now and again, the last time was a few week ago and he mentioned how he was frustrated not playing regularly especially by a player he didn't really rate. As much as he loved playing at burnley and under the straight talking Dyche he needs to keep in southgate's thoughts by playing at a big club and hopefully come back in 2/3 years to burnley but he is not settled in london and wants to return north. Read into that what you want.

It’s a nice sentiment but stepping down to our level in your prime would be a rather bizzare if noble careeer decision .
