Kurt Cobain

Post by hampsteadclaret » Fri Apr 05, 2019 6:00 pm

Remembering Kurt Cobain who died 25 years ago today.

- a generational icon..a grunge punk pioneer..a figure that encapsulated the early Nineties rock explosion..

- like a few others, gone at 27.

Kurt Cobain committed suicide the same year Justin Bieber was born.

He knew.

Iconic is right.

Sorry but you need to widen your horizon, even if you don't you only have to look at his drummer!

Just last week I passed a teenager wearing a Nirvana t-shirt and it made me think about how she wouldn’t have been born when he died. I knew it was 1994 so would be 25 years this year but had no idea it was so close to the anniversary.

Incredible, iconic and inspiring as they come! As a front man / band.

The MTV Unplugged is incredible. (similar one for Perl Jam knocking about too).

Looking back, Nirvana weren't really around long enough.

. always thinks Stone Temple Pilots Unplugged isn’t a million miles behind Nirvava & Pearl Jam’s efforts.

just an unpleasant racket ...I heard better in stacksteads workers in the 70s.

It was cool to pretend to like them back in the day though....just like pretending to like your first pint.

I'm not a fan of Foo Fighters. It's like listening to pop-rock by numbers.

I saw Nirvana at Manchester Academy - one of the best gigs I've been to. Up their with Sonic Youth who were an awesome live band.

Alice in Chains are also worthy of a mention when it comes to the Unplugged series.

Play any nirvana song but in a major key = foo fighters.

Absolutely dreadful

See https://youtu.be/dVehv_LDWaE" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Obviously being facetious a tad but the point stands.
Pretty basic/standard power chords with unsophisticated song structure - OK some decent lyrics but I want more from music.
