There are roadworks on the dual carriageway before the Cooper Dean roundabout, starting by the Christchurch/Airport turn. Add time....up to 30 mins!

Spot on, driving around the Bournemouth area was always a congested bind in previous years so if there are road works and hold ups I agree with NFC, stop and park up near a selected train station and let the train take the strain as was said.NewForestClaret wrote:Don't try taking A35 off the M27. Being Easter you will be stuck in a queue at Lyndhurst for ages. Going into Bournemouth from the east on Saturday is grim. A338 is a no go zone. Best off getting the train to Pokesdown and walk.
I didn't drive through Lyndhurst. I took a route through the New Forest which brought me out West of Lyndhurst, on the Christchurch road. I then drove around Christchurch to Boscombe. Took about 25 minutes and I was doing a steady 75mph at one point on the opposite side of the road.NewForestClaret wrote:Don't try taking A35 off the M27. What time approximately was that?Top Claret wrote:I didn't drive through Lyndhurst. I took a route through the New Forest which brought me out West of Lyndhurst, on the Christchurch road. So the moral of the story is if you speed and drive on the wrong side of the road you'll get their quicker. Provided you don't dieTop Claret wrote:I didn't drive through Lyndhurst. There most certainly are.Leisure wrote:Anyone know if there are hold-ups this morning?
Yes.... frigging nightmare yesterday when we hit them at 2pm stuck in them for 45 mins.Leisure wrote:Anyone know if there are hold-ups this morning?
You have to drive on the other side of the road to overtakeGoobs wrote:So the moral of the story is if you speed and drive on the wrong side of the road you'll get their quicker. Provided you don't die
Left the main Southampton to Bournemouth Road at 1.45 and arrived in Boscombe 2.05pm, we saw little trafficSouth West Claret. wrote:What time approximately was that?
Must have been breaking the speed limit pretty much all the way, especially if you went through the Forest or around Lymington. We get a lot of dead ponies and cows with people ignoring the speed limits.Top Claret wrote:Left the main Southampton to Bournemouth Road at 1.45 and arrived in Boscombe 2.05pm, we saw little traffic
That is generally pretty clogged too on a Saturday. It has been a nightmare down here since the roadworks began. I still think if you are coming down from the north you are better off driving somewhere out of town and getting the train.Claretbum wrote:You can come off at ringwood, and it is a straight road to Christchurch, then along barrack road following Bournemouth and boscombe, where you can walk to the ground at kings park. Alternatively catch a train from Christchurch to pokesdown , which is one stop away, and walk from there about 10 to 15 mins. There are still roadworks on the A338 where they are widening the road, you could get held up their for 30 mins, or so.
Bit difficult with 50 of us on the bus!NewForestClaret wrote:That is generally pretty clogged too on a Saturday. It has been a nightmare down here since the roadworks began. I still think if you are coming down from the north you are better off driving somewhere out of town and getting the train.
