I'd rather we beat Bournemouth and then Cardiff then play the under 23's against City on the understanding they will loan us Phil Foden next season

Re: Will Burnley hand the title to Liverpool ?
I’d say the draw we got at home to City was overall a fair result for both teams.

Had Lennon scored, that miss from Man city would never have come about.Tall Paul wrote:You could say we'd have lost to them but for an amazing miss.

?? And neither would the equaliser from JBG !Spijed wrote:Had Lennon scored, that miss from Man city would never have come about.
The sitter would have made it 2-0 and Sterling’s miss was a much bigger surprise than their keeper saving Lennon’s shot.

Burnley will win all our remaining matches and the rest is up to the others.

I can't see Liverpool losing but I can see City dropping points at Burnley.

City won't exactly be quacking in there boots when they visit the Turf this Sunday, after all ready putting 10 past us this season. They will come full of confidence and rip into us from the KO in the manner that Chelsea did.
I hope we can get a result, just to stop them winning the title. Liverpool would be far worthy winners

Re: Will Burnley hand the title to Liverpool ?
I think we'll give City a good game but ultimately they will be too good for us. Yes they will have nerves but they have been here and done it before and they know how to get t done and they know how to dig in and fight (remember QPR).
I think the odds on the draw are decent value as we know that on our day we can keep anyone at bay for 90 minutes with a little bit of luck, but my biggest worry is how much the long season, the fight to survive and Monday's game at Chelsea have taken out of the players and whether we can match that intensity again now that safety is virtually guaranteed.

Re: Will Burnley hand the title to Liverpool ?
in reality, they're miles too good for us to keep out. They're probably the best side in world football at breaking down a side with 11 players defending, it's quite amazing how they do it with such patience. We constantly sit deep and park the bus away from home against them (which has worked against other top sides) but always come away with an absolute pasting. For a top side with world class attacking options, it's surprising how hard they work, they will likely outwork us which hardly ever happens.

I quite enjoy the fact that Liverpool haven’t won’t the PL. They would be absolutely ENDLESS if they won it. Scouse accents everywhere. not for me thanks.

Re: Will Burnley hand the title to Liverpool ?
Really not that fussed who wins the League.
Liverpool and Man City have been far and away the best 2 teams this season (yes I know they should be with the resources/players they have available but still..)
I just want us to give a good account of ourselves and not end up on the end of a drubbing as we've had in the last 3 away games against them.
I'd be over the (blue) moon with a win of course but even a well fought draw like against Chelsea on Monday would be great.
The choice of ref worries me though, not suggesting he'll be deliberately biased but there will be lots of extra pressure on him to ensure he doesn't get any 'big' decisions wrong against City so he might just tend to err on the side of caution in their favour when it comes to any 50/50 decisions..

Re: Will Burnley hand the title to Liverpool ?
Couldn't give a toss who wins the title, im just buzzing that were safe from the drop[well almost] City have put a lot past us this season but i dont think they will put another 5 past us on Sunday, i think its going to be a cracking game, win or lose City will know they've been in a game and im sure the lads will do us proud, I have to agree with Vintage about the choice of ref though, this one could spoil things.

And if we do win all our remaining games we could finish as high as 10thIanMcL wrote:Burnley will win all our remaining matches and the rest is up to the others.
with 11 wins, 4 draws and 4 defeats from our last 19 games.
We'd also have given (probably) the title to Liverpool and scuppered Man City.
Now that would have us purring into next season.
Even if we don't then it will have been a pretty fantastic 2nd half of the season.

Re: Will Burnley hand the title to Liverpool ?
The perfect situation would be if we got a result against City and then Liverpool make a mess of one of their remaining fixtures. I fancy Wolves to get something against them.
