Jay's price will be around 30 million now,got to keep having faith in Dyche, this close season is going to be very difficult strengthening our squad.

Might as well add:

The teams coming up will be far stronger.
The league will have moved on even more.

I don’t think we need to upgrade our forwards as much as we need to put some more dynamism in our midfield. Wood and Barnes have hit double figure each for the second season in a row. If we could increase the number of chances they get next season, I can’t see a reason that that cant be improved. We just need at least one creative midfielder and a bit grunt in there.

There’s a guy playing in the Championship for Stoke who we should look at. Big bloke called Vokes. Reckon we could get him for £15m...

What chance have we got? A chance to think fk that lets look abroad. There are literally tonnes of players coming through leagues like where mitrovic started and going for nothing.

Would be harsh on Barnes to leave him out but Dyche needs to look at other options. I’d rather he did that in the last games of this season (assuming we’re safe) than in pre-season.

£30m for a 29 year old who’s scored some penalties in the Championship?!

We’re not daft - £12m is about right for him.

The ridiculous thing about Barnes is the way he has improved to be genuine premier league quality.

The improvement of some of our lads over the last three years resulting in us having a genuinely premier league quality team does speak volumes about Dyches coaching ability and does back our recruitment policy

Vydra is 27 in a few weeks time so this potential you talk about needs to get moving before it’s too late.
This is his 4th season in the Premier League - only 35 appearances and 4 goals so far....are you seeing something everyone else is missing ?

Would be a real bonus if you are correct but it’s hard to see what you are basing this on....it’s certainly not his record in this league so far.

I think hes just as good as barnes but quicker. When we signed him, i like others were excited for a new prospect to.replace either barnes or vokes. He hasnt been given a chance.

Barnes isnt a premier league quality striker for me. I think most of the teams around us have a better striker than him including teams below us. Hes done really well for us and im not disputing that but hes one that can easily be replaced.

Couldn't disagree more, thought he had one of his poorer games yesterday but he'd be extremely difficult to replace, his hold up game and link up play are vastly underated as well as his use of the dark arts. Probably the first striker on the team sheet for me.

It would be interesting to do a poll on who the fans rate better/more effective, Barnes or Wood?

I think Barnes would win and he has my vote.

With the ridiculous amounts of money in the PL being so well publicised it's obvious that Championship clubs will do what ever they can to get their share, inflating valuations of PL transfer targets is their best opportunity to grab some of that filthy money. ;)

Rondon (Newcastle)
Murray (Brighton)
Ings (Southampton)
Mitrovic (Fulham)
and as for Cardiff and Huddersfield ...

There are no better strikers than Barnes in that list. Ings probably would be, if fit. But then, so would Willie Irvine or Andy Lochhead, but fitness is letting them down too!

Easily replaced? He has scored 10 times this season. Here's a list of the players who have scored 13 or more:

Aguero - Salah - Aubameyang - Kane - Mane - Sterling - Vardy - Hazard - Lacazette.

And the players on 10,11,12 goals: Jminez, Son, Firmono, Sigurdsson, Richarlison, Lukaku, Pogba, Wilson, King, Milovejevic, Murray, Martial, Mitrovic, Rashford.

How many £50m+ players are on that list? There aren't many there who are available going cheap, or ever were. 10 goals is a lot in the Premier league if you aren't in the "unlimited cash" league.

I'd have Barnes and Wood over any of those first 4 you've mentioned.
Not a single one is worth throwing the money at and it would take ridiculous wages and transfer fees to get any of them.

It's always amusing watching people on here demand we go sign a 15-20 goal striker without thinking about the financial side of it, or the risk attached if the player is a failure which is equally likely.

I would have Rondon if Newcastle don't get him. Would be an excellent option for us. Perfect style. A little different to both wood and Barnes but perfectly capable of playing our system.

If WBA dont go up we could do worse than offer them money and or Vydra. He would certainly feature more than Vydra has and would fit in perfectly if Wood or Barnes were missing.

Both Wood & Barnes will put decent chances away, you want more goals from them, then you have to create more chances and/or better chances. Times through the season if we had Messi he would of struggled to score feeding off the poor service. No doubt in my mind that it's the midfield that requires attention rather than the striker department come summer.

Rondon is better than barnes
Barnes was cheaper than all three of the above for us to sign, less in wages still and yet still contributes more to his team than those three.

You'd have a point if they were scoring more goals then he is, but they aren't, so you're completely wrong.

You should take up a different sport, maybe tiddlywinks.
