Britains Got Talent

Post by Cleveleys_claret » Sun Apr 07, 2019 11:14 am

Never watched it but watched last night as my daughter was on it. Part of the choir (if you could call them that) which got the golden buzzer. Dressed as a plant pot. Anyone else see it ?

I saw about 5 minutes of it whilst flicking through, then turned it off. Total cheese on toast with the way the annoying judges act surprised/every other emotion. Total script. The 4 judges are also incredibly annoying - all on the prick list.

The final on tonight. I'm watching it because Jonathan Goodwin got through, so interested to see how he gets on.

I've seen him in a few programmes over the last few years. I think one I watched was, "Dangerman: The Incredible Mr. Goodwin". Interesting, entertaining and slightly terrifying some of the stuff he does.

Typical Ken Goodwin joke:

A Capstan Full Strength and a Players were walking down Pal Mall when they came across a Woodbine, who was crying his eyes out.

“What,s up little Woodbine?”, asked Capstan.

Woodbine replied:

“Kensitas”

I,ll get Ken Goodwins coat for him. That,s going to zoom over one or two heads as well!

Should rename the show to Britain's Got Veterans.

That school looked like it would be a cool place to send your kids

It really is. Since Mr Macpartland has been headmaster they are never off the news. If you type in Flakefleet on youtube you will see lots of viral videos they have done. Including the whole school carrying out a royal wedding, the stag and hen do's, with local businesses supplying a helicopter, suits, horses and the town lining the streets.

They also won happiest school in the UK before Xmas. This year he got all the kids (500) to write down their dream. They are making sure they all get to do them. Theres been helicopter rides, ferrari rides, rat petting(?), entering BGT, working on a farm, and lots more

The kids love it. The application rates have shot the roof for parents wanting there kids to attend. Also attendance have gone up rapidly. The first thing he did when he came to the school was identify the kids from drug homes who werent attending due to parents being out of it and not bringing their kids in. He sourced a cheap minibus and through dialogue with the parents and local council got permission to enter their houses in the morning to get the kids. These same kids stay an hour after school and have their school uniforms washed and pressed for the following day. All the teachers signed onto this commitment at the very beginning so it really is a team effort

That’s fantastic. Just shows what can be achieved with a positive attitude and outlook where you put the kids first. Those pupils will one day hopefully realise how lucky they are to be at that school whilst all this is going on.

I didn’t watch it but I saw that this old Chelsea Pensioner had won and I’ve heard him try to sing.

Saw the kids in their audition having seen this thread a few weeks back. What a complete joke that they and some of the potentially good acts have to miss out because of the old chap.

I thought the young dancers Libby and Charlie were very unfortunate not to finish in the top 3. Especially with the time they had to prepare.

For me, one of the best acts of the final, for sure.

There were some decent acts in the final and the 2 acts that came in the 2nd & 3rd deserved to be in the top 3.

I thought the school act should have been in there as well and there have already been conspiracy theories that votes for them were going to X instead.

Also as much as the Chelsea Pensioner was ok, the act that won wasn’t technically the act that was put through as he was joined by other Pensioners singing along.

Not entirely true as he had others with him in the live semi final....so, technically, just because he upped his act he was still voted for by the GP and therefore was put thrugh to the final on merit.

Yesterday in rehearsals every act got 15 mins allocated to them. Each act only ended up with 10 mins whilst the Chelsea pensioner had 80 mins.

Its truly shocking how acts are treated. The kids were there for 8 hours yesterday and Saturday. Didnt get fed and teachers werent allowed to go out and get them food. They werent allowed to do their own song choice. ITV dictated in both the semis and the final their song choice, clothing, and choreography. It lost a lot of the authenticity of the original audition because they were being provided with everything professionally but that was not them. They were rough round the edges and I think that is what the public liked.

I've absolutely no doubt that Cowell will have decided the old chap was going to win and did everything he could to make it happen.

Doesn't he say these programmes are to give people opportunities? An 89 year old bloke with a dodgy voice?

He has an enormous influence. The producers were working with a Burnley born magician who developed a mind reading dog act over an 18 month period. Right at the end of the process, just before audtions, the producers cut him off. The next he knows is during the audition stage, a copper with a police dog and a sob story is delivering his act practically word for word.

Your last post is truly amazing that the Headteacher has the brilliant ideas to get the unfortunate kids from addicted parents to school and to send them home after having their clothes washed.
Pity they did not win and then this amazing headteacher and his fantastic staff could have done more incredible things with the £250,000 prize money
I am not a believer in OBE MBE and knighthoods dished our as favours to third rate politicians and actors etc but would love this headteacher to pick up a “gong” of some sort for his outstanding achievements at this school

Sorry I meant originally in the auditions.

Yes upping their game is expected but all the acts did that.

I think what’s more interesting is how the order of acts is decided as I do think the last act does have the advantage.

Like I said I didn’t mind the CP (he reminded me of my grandad and the songs he use to sing) but there was no way he was the best act

A friend of mine used to work for the production company behind x-factor, and they would buy 'blocks' of votes as needed from the company that ran the voting side of things.

So whilst the acts with the most votes got through, the votes were easily rigged by the producers.

It has been an amazing experience for the kids and at present in one of two very loud coaches on the way home. But it has been an eye opener how this shows are run and the control they have over all the acts. You dont do what you want once through, you do what they believe is good for optics. Never watched it before and never will again now this journey for my daughter has ended.

It was amazing to be there and watch a show which was geared up for one winner. From packing the arena with chelsea pensioners and forces. In each ad break reminding the crowd of the service he had given to his country. Seperating most of the families into smaller groups yet having all his friends together. Not bitter....honestly, just truly amazed at how staged these shows are

From what i was told the best acts are usually last. How that comedian was deemed 2nd best to be 2nd last amazes me. Oh yeah he was Simons gloden buzzer act.

Britain’s Got No Talent is all about the back story of the contestants and Simon’s latest surgical enhancements. Ability comes way down the list but all the kids did their best to add sparkle to the tired format- well done to them

It's been the case for years that the producers tell the singing acts what songs they have to sing. I remember Cowell telling some plumber guy about 10 years ago that he had picked the wrong song and he was struggling to sing it. The guy responded that he hadn't picked it!

Cowell seems to be oblivious to this yesterday as he told the singer he had made a bad choice picking a violin backup orchestra. I'm just surprised how/why so many people bit their lip

They wouldn't tell the magicians which tricks to perform would they?

Good to see that people are at last waking up to the fact that the person who wins is getting peanuts when compared to the massive amounts of money which those 'judging' are receiving.
It is one big con, along with the majority of the other so-called 'Reality' programmes, however, they will continue to thrive because so many people are desperate for their five minutes of fame.

In Flakefleets case contracts had to be signed by all parents saying nothing is to be revealed on Social Media. Also if anything is passed on after an act go out they are liable to then pay the costs of which BGT have incurred during the process. Costs which most acts arent even bothered about until being told they have to have them.

The daredevil with sand, who claimed to never have done that trick actually advertises it on his las vegas website.

Also in the semis flakefleet werent allowed to turn a bed on stage for insurance reasons. Yet they are happy somebody supposedly risking his life.

Thank you and that is what they wanted. Just glad they are too young to understand the ins and outs of it all. Also how badly they were actually treated

Said the same to MrsCroydon yesterday. We're expected to believe that he just happened to have all that equipment lying around

It was reported some time ago that the producers actively invite professional acts on from around the world.

Stopped watching it some time ago but only tuned in last night to check out your guys. Mrs Croydon is still vexed that I made her watch the whole program :D

Cowell willed everyone to vote for him the pensioner- saying he would be great for the RVP with the Q.
That was chorused by the others, so the jolly old public then did their bit

There was some real talent, in the final, so a poor outcome.

Can't stand the way in which Ant and Dec fawn over the judges (at the start of one show Dec complimented Simon Cowell on his appearance) and the backslapping that these 2 presenters receive from the judges.

I find the best way to deal with TV shows that I don't like is to not watch them. Hence, I'm not watching Love Island, result.
