This song by The Cure is about 30 years old, was never a particularly a big fan of their's, thought they were OK.
This one though is special, been playing it a lot lately -
'Pictures of You'.

Shed Seven were formed in York in 1991, they had some short-lived Britpop success, I thought this was pretty good.
'Going for Gold'.

Rick Wakeman (no less) once said of Argent that his keyboard solo on Hold Your Head Up is the finest hammond organ solo he ever heard. Strangely about a year or so ago I spoke to Rod Argent through work, he's the MD of a recording studio down south somewhere, really nice chap.ashtonlongsider wrote:Absolutely HB and a big influence on Springsteen, one of my fav artists.
I've been listening to a lot of Zombies music of late. Rod Argent a fantastic keyboardist, not to mention another brilliant vocalist in Colin Blunstone.
Blunstone - taken far too young - one of the famed '27 club' I believe.

Colin Blunstone is still breathing Solid Air on God’s earth
- and he is way past 27... he is definitely not in that club.

FFS what am I saying - you are of course 100% correct. Who the hell was I thinking about - doctor I need more medication. Strange that, I must have mis-read something at some point. When my musical history knowledge fails me I think I need help.hampsteadclaret wrote:Colin Blunstone is still breathing Solid Air on God’s earth

Have a listen to Dan Mangan. I’ve been listening to his music for a few years now. His latest album “more or less” is a good place to start. From Vancouver, I Saw him live in Brighton on Sunday but he also played Manchester and Leeds last week. Danmanganmusic.com

Any Elbow fans..?..been listening to their stuff a lot lately..[local lads from Bury]
'Lippy Kids' reminds me so much of growing up in Burnley quite a long time ago.
This live version was from a show at Jodrell Bank, Cheshire in 2012, a very wet evening.

Lots of excellent versions of this song online, including the concert at Rock Werchter in Belgium, and in Manchester Cathedral.

- also Blueprint Studios, and Jools Holland.

These last couple of days I've been listening to some of the more long winded tracks I've got: Pink Floyd - Echoes, and Atom Heart Mother; and Focus - Anonymous 2. Most enjoyable!
Anyway I listened to this too:

- lightening the mood..was playing 'Cupid and Psyche 85' yesterday, several decent singles off it back then.
Scritti Politti were originally on Rough Trade..genres described as 'pop, new wave,synth-pop, blue-eyed soul, and post-punk'.
- loads of changes to the line up, loads of success in the mid 80's, here and in the US.
This is 'Perfect Way'...whatever happened to the very talented Green Gartside?
