Listening to a lot of Queen again recently since Bohemian Rhapsody came out. Enjoying discovering some of their songs I hadn't heard previously (with the obvious exception being I'm in love with my car :()

Today I was in the car listening to an album by Greenslade - if you've heard of them you are either a real music afficiando or a child of the (musical) 70's. Or both. Not exactly my favourite band but technically excellent - saw them a couple of times but don't thnik either time they were the main band (could be wrong).

Went and saw David Gray at bridgewater hall a couple of weeks back. Was very impressed actually as it was a present for my mum and not my usual sort of thing. Idlewilds new album was out on Friday and keeps getting better with every listen. Kyle Falconer, Drenge, SWMRS and Japanese House are the other artists I’ve been caning recently!

If you like tribute acts get yourself off to Festwich this Summer (if you can get tickets, it sells out rapidly). 2 days of the best rock tribute acts around (some better than the originals). St Marys Park Prestwich - around 20k people each day - tickets are FREE with just a booking fee of £3 or so. Unfortunately the tickets do go within a week or two - we only got Sunday last year but we got all weekend this time - it'll be our third year and never been disappointed. I think there is a Foo Fighters trib on this time. Stunning Bowie act on last year - headlined the Sunday. There is a similar one in Preston as well but I think it's a bit smaller.

Headline on the Saturday is a Linkin Park trib. Had tickets to see the real thing last year at the Arena, waited years to see 'em then the bombing got it postponed after which Chester Bennington topped himself, so this is the nearest we'll get now. Things to look out for are the Iron Maiden band, we saw the same band there 2 years ago and I swear you can't tell the difference if you close your eyes. The Nirvana act were on last year and fabulous and, even though I'm not a fan, the Metallica trib are excellent if you like them. Pity you couldn't get Sunday, some great stuff including, I think, the same Bowie act as last year. Won't be staying late on Sunday for the headline, I'm not a Prince fan.

The added bonus is that the food and drink are not too bad price wise, not the usual festival prices. Hope you enjoy.

Absolutely HB and a big influence on Springsteen, one of my fav artists.

I've been listening to a lot of Zombies music of late. Rod Argent a fantastic keyboardist, not to mention another brilliant vocalist in Colin Blunstone.
