Masters golf tips
I know there's a few on here who in the past have given golf tips.
Now with Sky bet offering 10 places for their each way betting I quite fancy a little flutter.

Re: Masters golf tips
Oh and several bookies are paying e/w on a top 10 finish.
Re: Masters golf tips
Watson 2 time champ. Rory playing well. Woods no chance
Re: Masters golf tips
Mclroy from a stats point of view is worthy favourite. Odds of about 8/1 are way too short but if you backing more than one golfer you might want to include him as a saver bet.
Outside bet wise Charley Hoffman at around 90/1 is a good each way bet. He plays well at Augusta and he’s in form finishing 2nd last weekend in Texas.
Another outsider with a chance is Gary Woodland at 70/1.
Paul Casey at around 25s I also like and Fowler at 18s has got a great record here and eventually should win a major.
Out of all them if I had to choose one it would be Mclroy - and the last time I backed a favourite in golf at such short odds was Tiger Woods 20 years ago !

Re: Masters golf tips
Won’t be betting. Just enjoying it for what it is. I would expect the following to be up there...pretty much, I suspect, similar to the leading odds...
Rahm
Fowler
Rose
Johnson
Fleetwood
Rory
Koepka
Casey
Spieth
Woods
Got a feeling it’s going to be a stellar leaderboard come the last day.
Looking forward to it. If the aforementioned Brits don’t win it, I’ll be hoping for a Fowler win. A very talented golfer and a bloody decent humanbeing!

Re: Masters golf tips
It’s about time Tommy Fleetwood stepped up and won a major. He likes to draw the ball, Augusta suits his game, he putts well too. I can’t wait to hear his post round interview in his thick Lancashire accent, in Butler Cabin with Jim Nantz.

I've probably put a jinx on Hoffman then. Did him this afternoon at Willy Hills....100/1 !

Hoffman is a decent call e/w/ If he was slim and handsome and not sponsored by waste management he would be 25/1 not 100/1 Underated playerBuxtonclaret wrote:I've probably put a jinx on Hoffman then. Did him this afternoon at Willy Hills....100/1 !

Hoffman was beaten out by a Canadian, Cory Conners, his first PGA win. Conners has been knocking on the door for the last 18 months or so, finally broke through. He hails from Listowel, Ontario, a small town about 30 minutes north of my location.

Yes I saw that - he’s the guy who had a really good run at the British open a couple of years ago. As much as I’d love to see Rory win this and complete the ‘slam’, I can’t help thinking he wants it too much. Seems as though tries too hard, he’s had a couple of golden opportunities in the past and gagged on Sunday. No question when he’s on his game he’s pretty well unbeatable, his balky putter has let him down on numerous occasions.
Re: Masters golf tips
Think he's recognised that this year and with a new coach they have focused on being less aggressive with his driver (he still hits it further than most) and his short game has improved this year and his putting.....though the latter is probably still his nemesis and the first part of his game that tends to go when he is under pressure. Will be interesting to see how he plays on Thursday as that will be a big clue to the rest of the week.exilecanada wrote:As much as I’d love to see Rory win this and complete the ‘slam’, I can’t help thinking he wants it too much. The tee off times are due out at 5pm today I think. This could be a big factor as the weather forecast is showing the wind being easier on Thursday morning and Friday late afternoon which means if you get an early tee off time on Thursday (meaning you are also late out Friday) this could be a significant advantage....or you could be hampered by 4 or 5 shots if you have the opposite tee off time.
I`ll check these later before I put any bets on.

You’re thinking of another Canadian, Austin Connelly, he’s a small guy. I believe he’s currently playing on the European Tour.
Corey Conners is listed as 6’1”, 195 lbs.

A balky putter will quickly be exposed at Augusta, although leaving the pin in may be of some assistance, particularly on a lightening quick downhiller. The Augusta forefathers will be turning in their graves at the rule change. I was lucky enough to attend a Wednesday practice round a few years back, telly doesn’t do justice to the slope on those greens…..frightening!

Xander Schauffele to be close
Re: Masters golf tips
I don't particularly like the way he comes across abit arrogant at times and agree he's choked a few Sundays in the past but don't think he's missed a Top 5 finish this year so on form alone he's deffo the favexilecanada wrote:As much as I’d love to see Rory win this and complete the ‘slam’, I can’t help thinking he wants it too much. That said I wouldn't touch him at that price

Re: Masters golf tips
I've backed Oosthuizen, Fowler, Kuchar and Matt Fitzpatrick as a bit of a long shot. Managed to get 45/1 on Kuchar which I thought was decent considering he's having a very good season.

Corey Conners is first out tomorrow so that could be good if the weather forecast holds true

Re: Masters golf tips
I’m not a gambler, but surely Dustin Johnson must be one of the favourites. Hits the ball a mile with accuracy, short game has improved and is a solid putter. If he hadn’t fallen down the stairs prior to last year’s Masters, he would probably have a green jacket by now, he was on an incredible hot streak at the time.
Now…………..time for some useless information! Johnson has a Canadian connection, his lady is Paulina Gretzky, daughter of Wayne Gretzky (aka The Great One) acknowledged by many to be the greatest hockey player ever. Johnson also represents RBC (Royal Bank of Canada). Gretzky was born/raised in Brantford, Ontario, a 30 minute drive south of my location. Alexander Graham Bell, inventor of the telephone, was also a Brantford resident.

Re: Masters golf tips
If anyone fancies putting a picture of Paulina Gretzky on here you might see why DJ might find it difficult to concentrate on his golf all the time !!!!
DJ is second fave and obviously with his game he has a massive chance but the odds are like Rory’s very short for a major. The last few years has not seen favourites winning and the odds of most of the last few winners have been 20/1 and longer.

Re: Masters golf tips
I’m not a gambler, although an avid golf fan and golfer. What are odds on Bernhard Langer making the cut? He typically does very well at The Masters considering his age. He consistently beats up the opposition on the US Champions Tour.
Re: Masters golf tips
I backed Langer last year to finish top 10 at long long odds - he didn’t quite make it but gave me a great run.
He’s still a brilliant player on the seniors tour and looks as fit as ever. He knows Augusta very well of course and will just hit many fairways and greens as he always does.
B365 have him at 4/5 on to make the cut so not worth it. He’s 12/1 to finish in the top 20 which is a lot more tempting - especially given you can probably rule out 15 players out of the field which is only 87 players in the first place.

Rose ,Rahm and Fowler are my outright bets with Jack Nicklaus first round leader.
