KSC 110 Club

Post by J_Grimshaw » Tue Apr 09, 2019 2:55 pm

All the years I have travelled up and never been in. Is it a club for members only. If not is it worth a visit. Usual stops are The Angel and The Miners.

What food do they do?

I'm a miners guy usually, but the cafe does a small selection of food and it's usually always under cooked and cheap ingredients/ condiments that spoil any flavour that should be there

Decent club but gets busy at peak times.

Get there before 1.15 if you want a seat.

Coots light is the lager on with a few ales being their speciality.

I don't know if they still open up stairs or not?

Used to be funny of a night time watching the priest from St Marys over the road trying to get back after having spent a good few hours at the bar having drinks bought for him.

Ryan Murphy is the Manager. Frank Gregory left some years ago to run a pub on Lindisfarne.

I think it was 2001 the last time I went in, so no surprises he's no longer there.

When I'm back in Burnley for a game, I go in the 110 after the game because my old mates go there. However, after the game I do find it too crowded and busy to enjoy a quiet pint. Not easy to get served and you get knocked about by the crush of people in there.

It's my first port of call when getting back over for a game. Has been for years. I've never been in after a match funnily enough. In fact for the 30 odd years I've been going to Burnley think I've only been in 5 places for a beer. Always packed pre match but cheap beer/decent food does for me.

"Left-leggers club," A proper club that needs support, like your monthly effort.

We used to go in the KSC when we were lads (16-18) in the 6th form at St Teds ( very happy days) on Tuesday evenings, top floor, playing cards about 6-8 of us.. 3 card brag and variations on that.. quite a bit of money changed hands, some guys went hungry at school lunch next day.. pints of Whitbread bitter/ Tankard were.... very cheap !

KSC lost loads of competition in recent years so on match-days they must be doing alright.. good for them it’s a well run club, been there a while..competitors that have gone under include..

Rose and Thistle club
Wellington
Fulledge Con. Club
Irish League/English League club.
Brunshaw pub
The Park View
Sparrowhawk Hotel
White Hart.
Keirby Hotel public bar
Foresters and a couple more in that area..

As a left-footer may the KSC continue to thrive for a while yet.

Went in there in my late teens and early 20s as we were also Teds lads who started going in there in sixth form and wanted somewhere we could go which was cheap before we hit the town ! We also liked snooker and got quite good at it on the 3/4 nine foot table.
We were members for a few years and once a year we got free beer tickets - I remember well a bloke called Billy Pepper who was a big fella and massive drinker and he used to hover round us trying to buy our beer tickets off us for a few pence !!
