Mobile phone help needed

Post by Leisure » Thu Apr 11, 2019 6:03 pm

I'm abroad at the moment and can't get my phone (Motorola Moto G4) to neither make or receive calls or texts. I'm on a monthly contract with Virgin and my phone is set with roaming on and international call barring off. I think that it may be a problem with the Access Point Network settings. Any suggestions please?
PS - I can access the internet on it through WiFi, just can't make or receive calls or texts. And as such I can't contact Virgin for help.

Is your roaming turned on?

If so, try and manually connect to the local networks. Try each one and reboot each time it doesnt work

Also take the sim out and give it a wipe too

Turn fone off and on (reboot) whilst trying all local networks manually instead of automatically connecting to the first network it gives you

Its called a hard reset manual roam

My mate had the same problem in France. It will be an issue at Virgin’s end. International call barring may be off but it’s not set up correctly. If you can get internet then you can make calls via WhatsApp or similar. Or you can go to Virgin’s live chat.

What country are you in and what's your phone? Different countries have different bands.

It’ll probably be cheaper and easier to just pick up a local SIM card and use that.

I always pull over onto the pavement when I use my mobile phone to text or use social media.
There's me avoiding 6 points and making the roads safer by not using my mobile whilst driving.
Always some selfish bitch with a pram turns up, or worse a rude nob in a wheel chair or on a mobility scooter.

that's the thanks I get .

An apn is dependant on the fone. Id google what the apn settings should be for virgin for your type of fone and manually input it in settings

Cheers for trying to help me. Contacted Virgin Community and now had my phone re-set and now all seems to be working OK. UTC
