Turn up early tomorrow to see the flags

Club just announced that there will be flags again tomorrow.

To add colour to the occasion and to help cheer on the Clarets, there will be a flag placed on every seat in the James Hargreaves, Jimmy McIlroy and Bob Lord Stand.

Home supporters seated in the Ladbrokes Stand will find a Burnley FC scarf placed on every seat, which we encourage to raise aloft as the teams emerge to create a wall of colour.

In addition, Community participants and supporters will display 16 giant flags around the perimeter of the pitch.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early at the stadium to enjoy the display and to add their voice to the matchday atmosphere.

Please showcase your fantastic support once more by helping to raise the roof for this huge fixture!

Stuff like this just doesn’t work at Burnley.

You're spot on. Clearly decisions being made by people who don't understand our supporters - surely they won't be the hideous sand castle flags again.

I think I'll go in the cricket field stand tomorrow for a scarf :D :D :D

It's all a bit Brighton or Reading is this. We've got our walk down from the pub timed to see us arriving at 2:59 anyway.

I’m coming to the conclusion now that the club do this on purpose; not to improve atmosphere, but to try and wind fans up. We’re playing Cardiff in a MASSIVE game. Do we really need a flag? Hey, why not provide party poppers and streamers too?

Was it last season or the season before when some of the directors wanted to introduce the happy clappers. Thankfully a stop was put to it. We criticise the plastic clubs for doing things like this.

I despise stuff like this and even if I was the only one who did, surely those in charge saw the naff impact the flags at the Wolves game had and thought ‘we’ll not bother with that again.’

You obviously don't go in the Cricketfield stand?

I get to the back of the CF queue about 10 to 3 and still missed the first goal against Wolves.

The Wolves game ‘effort’ was terrible. At the most, and I think this is being generous, 3,000 fans held their flags. That’s about 15% of the crowd! What’s the point. I guarantee, the guy on the mic (the one who deliberately whispers the name of our opponents at an inaudible level) will be bellowing at is to waves our flags and swing our scarves above our head. It just won’t be authentic.

Health and safety risk.

Saying that you could strangle somebody with your new scarf.

one step away from the clackers - makes you shudder - and never mind the environmental impact of those crappy flags

Tomorrow is a huge game. We don’t need the additions as we should all be that pumped that the atmosphere will come naturally.

Having said that I wouldn’t mind a tifo every now and again like what is seen in Italy, Germany etc however, I don’t think Burnley fans would get behind it.

Clappy sticks are embarrassing as well.

Yet Leicester city supporters thought they were wonderful!

I brought two of the sand castle flags home last time for my little 'un, thinking it would be a little treat.

Ten seconds later, they'd been chucked in the bin. Crinkly, cheap and horrible - I can see why it went down like a lead balloon.

Absolutely. You can't argue with a free scarf. To be honest though the best thing they could do to improve atmosphere is fill in the other two corners and hurry up with the introduction of safe standing. All seaters destroyed the atmosphere at most grounds, ask any United fan (over a certain age), Old Trafford is not the ground it was for atmosphere, neither is Anfield.

Some of us simply have high standards and just want a decent day out without being handed cheap tat (though tomorrow’s flags look better).

Some of the stuff the club does is brilliant (e.g. Turf TV or whatever they call it). If they have load of atmospheric big flags surrounding the pitch, I'm up for that. But some of the other stuff isn't brilliant. Simple as that.

It likely comes down to who the people in responsibility are for each type of decision, and how good they are at it. Bentley's team is good. Some of the other teams, well, let's just say the jury's out.

Can't do right for doing wrong. If you don't care for it, don't partake - simples.

The kids will like it I'm sure.

Provided it doesn't detract from the huge task in hand, then I can't see the harm in it tbh.

The flags at the Wolves game were pathetically small. At least these ones seem to be bigger and "better quality".

Mine will be going in my pocket and going home for the nephew.

However if I was getting a scarf, I'd be keeping that :)

Tell you what, why don’t the club play Land of Hope and Bloody Glory, as the teams come out and we can wave them like it’s a pomp and circumstance occadion? Whilst we’re at it, let’s wave them to the hornpipe before singing Jerusalem, whilst the teams are read out.

Singing Jerusalem might get a reaction from our Welsh friends.

I collected 4 flags after the Wolves match to put around newly planted onions in my allotment to keep birds off. By Monday morning they had all blown off. So don’t expect to wave them too hard.

MATCH STATS
Victory last week gave Burnley a first double over Bournemouth since 1999/2000, the same season the Clarets last did the double over Cardiff City.

:D Lets make it a double double :D

Well if you want to sound like the women's institute, that'll be the one to sing.

If it's just inherent racism, you can have a go at ****ing chariot boIIocks. Don't expect me to join in.

Not just when we are winning. But not that one.

That said, I didn't go to Cardiff away this year, although was at Swansea last season. The anti-Welsh sentiment doesn't exactly come to the fore at other times, does it?

Good gesture by the club. Someone needs to take the initiative because the atmosphere at home has been poor overall for quite a long time. How many home matches over the last few years has the atmosphere been good? Aberdeen,Tottenham, Middlesbrough, help i'm struggling. Away from home it's totally different with the Clarets coming in unison to get behind the team.

A lot of negativity on this thread in response to what is a decent and generous gesture by the club. Some people are never happy unless they are slagging off BFC. It’s cost a few quid and will take some time to set up. Last week at Bournemouth we had those flipping clackers to put up with the whole match - this will take what..six or seven minutes pre kick-off?

If we didn’t bother with this stuff at all, it would not bother me.
As it’s there, then embrace it and join in for a few minutes.. our lot do other good stuff as well, like £10 tickets for Chelsea.

T'other thing the club haven't thought about - if tomorrow goes pear shaped I'm sure the moron element will be throwing these things towards the pitch.

It’s not the same without a Dyche mask.

I hate all this sort of stuff but if they’re going to do it, at least make sure all stands are given the same thing.

I’ll frantically wave my flag if it means we can ditch the announcer, or at least give him some lessons in decency and respect.

Not keen on this sort of stuff.... However.... The atmosphere inside the stadium can be pretty poor.....I guess they are also attempting to relax the supporters in case their nerves transcend to the pitch....
