Who's seen Pope play since his injury ?
I've heard gossip and no more that Pope hasn't returned to form since his injury and isn't playing particularly well.
I don't necessarily believe it but would like to hear the opinion of anyone who's seen him play as I haven't and was curious what board members thought.

Just soliciting an opinion from people who have seen him play rather than what could be uninformed rubbish like a lot of comment on football sites. Like all Clarets I hope it is rubbish.

Watched him when we played Barnsley in the cup. He was solid although didn't have much to do.

Probably the same people who saw Tom Heaton play in a 6 - 0 defeat for the U23's and decided he shouldn't get back in the team. It's a different game playing in those Development team games so not really possible to judge him fairly until / IF we get to see him playing for the 1st team again.

Burnley will listen to offers for 26-year-old goalkeeper Nick Pope, with Bournemouth among the clubs interested, while another England keeper, 31-year-old Joe Hart, could also leave the Clarets.

Okay as long as we have a replacement lined up for Billy Mercer to work on.California Colner wrote:Burnley will listen to offers for 26-year-old goalkeeper Nick Pope, with Bournemouth among the clubs interested, while another England keeper, 31-year-old Joe Hart, could also leave the Clarets.

People might disagree, but, I think he is our best goalkeeper. He commands his area, makes catching crosses look easy and is a good shot stopper. He is only 26 so should get even better. He could easily be England's number 1 for years. Why sell someone like that and keep ones that only have a limited number of years left? As much as I like Heaton I think Pope is our future.

Only played twice, had little to do against Barnsley but didn't play well against Manchester City.cblantfanclub wrote:I've heard gossip and no more that Pope hasn't returned to form since his injury and isn't playing particularly well.

I guess the club would listen to offers for any of our players. it's hardly news.California Colner wrote:Burnley will listen to offers for 26-year-old goalkeeper Nick Pope, with Bournemouth among the clubs interested, while another England keeper, 31-year-old Joe Hart, could also leave the Clarets.

Wasnt brilliant at Man City ,how many other games has he played apart from those cup games.
Like all players after a long illness needs proper game time.
Out on loan next season to gain fitness and regain his reputation would be my perferred option.

Re: Who's seen Pope play since his injury ?
I'd really like to see him stay (and let Hart go), but tbh I can't see it. He'll want first team footy and won't readily settle for another season on the bench, which means we'll probably reluctantly cash in whilst the going is good. Like many on here I actually think he's the best all round of the keepers and he gives me the most confidence, especially on crosses, but he won't be dislodging Heaton any time soon and having barely seen anything of him since his injury it's always possible he just won't ever be quite the same and the coaching staff have seen it.

A loan deal is the answer

I think it is far more likely that he will move on - don't expect him to go on loan.paulatky wrote:A loan deal is the answer

We have more goalkeepers than we have centre midfielders.
It doesn't half make me laugh does that.

I think he’s our best keeper. But he’s not our Captain. Heaton has done a tremendous job coming back in the team.
Re: Who's seen Pope play since his injury ?
Not buying this one. Heaton was rubbish against Burton Albion upon his return from injury. One or two cup games mean nothing - I refuse to believe he’s no longer a good keeper.

Re: Who's seen Pope play since his injury ?
Honestly I think Heaton is the best keeper we have, but Pope is 5 years younger so has a longer future.
Re: Who's seen Pope play since his injury ?
Should at least be on the bench instead of Hart
He is still young enough to have a very good future at this club

Re: Who's seen Pope play since his injury ?
In my opinion, he should be number 1.
His attributes suit our set up far more than Heaton, he's younger, and if back playing pre injury form, would be arguably up there with the top half a dozen keepers in the league.
That at his age could command an even bigger fee should we sell on, but why can't he be the settled keeper here for 5+ more seasons.
Selling now, would only imo see us looking for another number 1 in 12 months time, probably for more money than we receive for Hart and Pope combined this summer.

Our staff see him in training every day. If they thought he was the better keeper he would be in the team.
Its as simple as that.

There really is nothing to laugh about. We got our priorities completely wrong. Hopefully we can win today and correct the errors in the summer .Bin Ont Turf wrote:We have more goalkeepers than we have centre midfielders.

He's aged a bit
Re: Who's seen Pope play since his injury ?
If Pope becomes as good as we think he will then we won't be able to retain him. Heaton on the other hand has a good few years left.
To me if one of the has to go it is Pope.
