Good point, clappers.claptrappers_union wrote:Stan knows how to hold a grudge. I know many people who have wronged me, but over time I can never remember why.
Story has it when we played Sheff Utd at Brammell Lane, Warnock sent some of his staff to go listen to Stans talk behind the door of the dressing roomclaretabroad wrote:What's the story behind the animosity? I know I've disliked Colin since Stan was manager but can't remember why at all.
You and all the other fans calling him a w*nker then! Don't get the animosity at all.claretabroad wrote:What's the story behind the animosity? I know I've disliked Colin since Stan was manager but can't remember why at all.
Wasn't it Kevin Blackwell who was and still is Warnocks assistant who was sent by Warnock to listen in to Stans half time team talk?wilks_bfc wrote:Story has it when we played Sheff Utd at Brammell Lane, Warnock sent some of his staff to go listen to Stans talk behind the door of the dressing room
That is documented in Stan's autobiography.mkmel wrote:Wasn't it Kevin Blackwell who was and still is Warnocks assistant who was sent by Warnock to listen in to Stans half time team talk?
Stan found Blackwell listening outside our changing room door and allegedly punches were thrown
And since then Stan and Blackwell have been good buddies but Stan has never forgotten it was Warnocks idea to listen in
That's what I heard but not sure if true
It dates back much further than that. I can’t remember which clubs they were at at the time though. It’s in Stan’s book, I think Colin accused one of Stan’s players of something but the details escape me.mkmel wrote:Wasn't it Kevin Blackwell who was and still is Warnocks assistant who was sent by Warnock to listen in to Stans half time team talk?

It goes back to when Stan was at Hull. Warnock accused one of Stan’s players of headbutting one of his players in the tunnel area. Stan disagreed and that was the start of it.claretabroad wrote:What's the story behind the animosity? I know I've disliked Colin since Stan was manager but can't remember why at all.
Pretty much my understanding.taffy wrote:I thought it was when Stan had left Bury for us and Colin took over and accused Stan of poaching players and undermining his chances of keeping Bury in the championship
That Chapter is Very Funny!boatshed bill wrote:That is documented in Stan's autobiography.
I must read that book again.HunterST_BFC wrote:That Chapter is Very Funny!
Wasn't there also a run in with Ian Porterfield in his Chelsea days?fidelcastro wrote:There seems to be a lot of head butting stories in Stan's archive.
Off the top of my own head... Ron Futcher, Kevin Blackwell, David May.
I'm sure there are others!
Even just for the first two pages - best opening to an autobiog' everSteve1956 wrote:I must read that book again.
I remember thinking the same when Stan's Bury side were beaten 3-1 at the Turf. Especially the performance of a certain Lenny Johnrose that day.boatshed bill wrote:i also remember Colin saying something about Stan's days in management showing disregard for the wellbeing of the opposition (I'm putting that as mildly as possible as I can't quote exactly),
And the incident at the worsley cup final!Goobs wrote:Wasn't there also a run in with Ian Porterfield in his Chelsea days?

Pretty much every chapter in the book was about Stan fighting with someone wasn't it? Although I'm sure Tony Livesey used a bit of artistic license with some parts!fidelcastro wrote:There seems to be a lot of head butting stories in Stan's archive.

Stan accidentally headbutted someone and ended up in court over it.djemba-djemba wrote:What was the incident at the Worsley cup final?
My dad was a fire officer and I remember him telling me they were called to the club once. I forget the reason why but they needed to get there quick (gas leak / fire). Stan was driving out and he refused to reverse to let the fire engine in. My Dad said they had words and he eventually reversed to let them in.TomtheClaret wrote:Just heard on a stream, that Dyche is furious with Stan over comments made this week over Warnock.

Porterfield was manager, Stan was coach. They were playing up North and Stan wanted to go off with his wife and friends after the match. Chelsea had a bad defeat and Porterfield refused him permission and made him travel back down Sarf.Goobs wrote:Wasn't there also a run in with Ian Porterfield in his Chelsea days?
No, it was the Palin incident at Hull. I got that from Stan.taffy wrote:I thought it was when Stan had left Bury for us and Colin took over and accused Stan of poaching players and undermining his chances of keeping Bury in the championship
Warnock has had Jepson on his staff at most of the clubs he has managed since 2007...at Palace,QPR & weeds.Bosscat wrote:I always find it funny that Stans old mate Ronnie Jepson works alongside Warnock as a coach at Cardiff.
