Re: Kit supplier
If we are going with Umbro then I hope we have an all yellow away kit, with claret and blue diamonds on sleeves and shorts.
We should also bring Billy Hamilton back to model it! Complete with socks round ankles look

Re: Kit supplier
Umbro served us well with kit designs through the years. It'll be nice to have them back on board
Re: Kit supplier
My first ever own football shirt (aged 9), was an Umbro V neck in yellow with black trim. (My primary school played in yellow and black stripes)
As I am 65 going on 66, they have been around a long time!

Re: Kit supplier
Although kits weren’t branded back then I thought we wore umbro shirts and bukta boots for the 1962 FA Cup final. I can’t find any proof but the wiki link does say they had a deal with the FA and did the cup final balls.
Some older supporter might be able to confirm or deny.

We had umbro kits for years, going way back. I seem to remember as a kid trying Atwells shirt on from the 47 cup final and being surprised it was umbro made. And the wife's grandad Reg Kirkhams shirt from the early 50s was umbro made. I also have Coates and Morgans shirts from the mid 60s which are umbro made as well

We should have a sweepstake on when the kit will be shown for the first time. I’m going with 5th August.

As far as I know. Although I believe we wore black shorts away in the 1960 title season. But recent years any black on the away kit has been very unlucky and my heart sank last summer when I saw this seasons offering.JTClaret wrote:Is this the first year we've had a black kit and not been relegated?

Re: Kit supplier
my Chew ‘spare’ shirt from the Charlton 47 game is definitely made by Umbro, though with no branding except the label. My first Burnley V was also Umbro... so great to see the club working with them again.THEWELLERNUT70 wrote:We had umbro kits for years, going way back. I would not be to convinced by that Trvor - last years figures (we have increased ours with the current monstrosity - I for one would rather we were free of Gambling, Alcohol and Vaping in our advertising which are responsible for so much ill in the town)Tricky Trevor wrote:The longer we can stay in the PL the revenue from shirt advertising should increase markedly.

Re: Kit supplier
Adi Dassler worked with his brother Rudolph Dassler but the pair fell out and Rudolph set up his own rival business which is Puma. The two factories were all but next to each other initially although I'm not sure where they are now.Tricky Trevor wrote:I knew that Adidas was founded by Adi Dassler. As for our kit, there was a thread a couple of weeks ago and I believe it is definitely Umbro next season.

Re: Kit supplier
How are the supplier deals worked out from a financial perspective?
There's the cost of manufacturing but then the company also get high profile exposure with their logo on the kits.

Re: Kit supplier
Umbro have got some really nice shirts this season.
The main problem with us as I see it is we’ve got to work with Claret, Blue and White. The kits a like (Everton, Blackburn, Bournemouth) have just 2 main colours to work with.
This seasons Everton home is really nice but seen (above post) in our colours it looks shockingly bad.

Generally, Umbro (or G L Dameck in reality), Nike or whoever will make an up-front payment to the club for the right to produce the shirts.Walt wrote:How are the supplier deals worked out from a financial perspective?

In addition the club will get a whole variety of free kit and may get an extra royalty if the number of shirts, etc sold exceeds a certain figure (although this figure tends to be set very high, I don't think I've ever seen it triggered).

Re: Kit supplier
Benedictine on the front of our shirts would be brilliant. Great font, looks fantastic, the link to our club and town. It would be THE perfect sponsor for our football club, although I'm not sure they could match the deal offered by a far east betting company.
