Not to be missed 30 min documentary Netflix

Post by turfytopper » Sun Apr 14, 2019 1:36 pm

Netflix....search for “Losers” episode “The jaws of victory”

Takes a look at the events of 9th May 1987. From a Torquay perspective.....brilliant

I'v meant to flag this up for weeks. Thanks for doing it. Remember all this was taking place during the Orient game. It really is worth a watch. Funny bones!

Great watch. Never really heard their story before. Loved the bit with the police dog.

Jesus Christ. Just watched it. HOW dodgy was Torquay’s equaliser? From a Crewe point of view that is. Never seen that goal before

Just watched it. No disrespect to Torquay but how the hell did we come to be down at the bottom of the 4th division with them?

To be perfectly honest, we were probably worse than they were.

I know. But perrenial bottom dwellers v founder members and twice champions of the football league. A scandal that we were allowed to get into such a position.

I’d heard about the incident with the police dog but didn’t realise it was part of our Orient story.

Goes to show that Burnley were the stars of the show, we had the television cameras at Turf Moor. Torquay had a handicam.

That equaliser was dodgy though, and with that in mind, I’ve heard a story about the police ‘advising’ the Orient players in the changing room to avoid crowd trouble. I reckon Crewe had a similar chat at Plainmoor.

Nor me. The quality of some of the stuff turned out by Netflix, when compared with Sky’s prices - who barely produce anything of note (I’m not counting the sport because they don’t exactly produce that) , is remarkable.

No thanks.
I feel that I get better value for money from Netflix and Amazon, with things like BBC iPlayer thrown in than I used to do with Sky.
I don't miss Sky sports either.

Cheers for that.
How many Dave Thomas’s are there writing for a living? He’s not as good as ours but the “skin of their teeth...and the teeth of a police dog” line was a goody.

The Orient players also got warned by the police that they could not guarantee their safety if they were to win the game.

I think that may have been a much bigger issue for the Police dealing with a crowd reported to be in excess of 18k than a few disgruntled Devonians.

Every expense appears to have been spared in the making of this documentary
