Lack of draws in premier league

Ok I am no statto but I couldn’t help but notice when I checked the premier league table on the bbc that the last 5 game form indicator shows that in the 100 games only 7% of games ended in a draw.....

Compared it with leagues one and two who averaged around 30%.

If that is a pattern throughout this last season there will be far more points shared around.

Lower league sides depend much more on strength as opposed to technique. I think that's a big reason for the huge difference.

A comparison of draws this season compared throughout the years would be more interesting.

Not convinced about that. Little change over many years.

I'm guessing, without having looked at previous seasons, the points gap between the top six and the rest continues to grow.

So if the general rule applies that the top 6 usually win games against the other 14 teams then in increases the importance for that (14 team) group to win games against 'the rest'.

Our results are a good example, a healthy 11 wins - only one of which has been against a top 6 club and an overall small (six) number of draws.

Compare that to our first PL season under Dyche when we were hard to beat but couldn't turn those performances into wins and went down as a result. That perhaps explains how we and teams in a similar position approach games and might account for the decreasing number of draws.
