The Masters

Post by CombatClaret » Sun Apr 14, 2019 6:38 pm

Thrilling finish this!

Molinari on for a double bogey.
Leaves 4 tied for the lead inc the Big Cat himself

I think Molinari has run out of balls. Both literally and metaphorically.

Fair play to Woods. Leaving aside his dubious behaviour in the past, to battle through his demons and all those injuries to challenge for his first major in 11 years is phenomenal. Hope he does it.

Hope Woods wins it. He inspired a generation of golfers to take up the sport.

Anyone but Tiger for me. Telling that as a human being rather than a competitor no one has a good word to say about him.

Genuinely think he’s changed - and for the better. Even his oldest foe, Phil Mickelson, is now his friend.

I think that comment says more about your personality than his.

Old mate of mine from school played at the highest level, and often paired with Tiger and he had nothing but respect for him and told us that he was just determined and very single minded.

Personally I’d love for Tiger to win

So because he's a great golfer sleeping around with hundreds of porn stars/hookers etc while your wife is looking after your kids at home is acceptable is it?

Molinari must be kicking himself. Played amazing golf for 4 days but 2 bad holes coming in on the back 9 killed him.

Not the most likeable character but you can’t beat having the most iconic sporting icons at the top of their game.

I’m not, and never was a Tiger fan, but always respected his talents, determination and ability to intimidate his opponents to almost submission. No question he inspired a whole generation to take up the sport. He’s had a tough time over the last few years, both health wise and person issues. His knowledge of the course served him well today, particularly on #12 when the wind was causing havoc for the less experienced. He’s also mellowed a lot, as we typically do as we age.

Well done Tiger.

He’s made mistakes and boy didn’t he know it. 10 years in the wilderness. A laughing stock in America. Not a great sportsman but a joke.

No matter what Tiger achieves on the course his greatest achievement will be inspiring many working class lads to pick up a golf club and fall In love with the game.

I was about 12 when I first heard of Woods. Loads of my mates started playing golf because of Woods and Nike. I don’t play anymore but most of my mates do. Some at professional level. It’s a similar story across many countries. That’s his greatest legacy

Inspiration for many, a real gentleman on the course with huge respect for the traditions of the game and his fellow pro's.

Not forgetting 4 operations on his back and 4 on his knee, most people would have given up, he didn't.

So he had an affair, big deal.

Has to go down as one of the greatest moments ever in sport, the kind of story that's impossible to script.

What is it about great sporting achievements that reduce a mere mortal to tears. Happened first to me as a nipper in 1960 when we won the League and again some 50 years later at the Play-Off final in 2009. Not ashamed to say a tear was there again tonight. Unmissable and unforgettable moments in Sport.

The singular, most dull, and pathetic festival of slobbery and mania by the golf playing media harlots , particularly at the BBC.
It is a game that always reminds me of Eamon Holmes, he might not even play, but his fat face is a logo for golf. this win was nothing even remotely resembling a great sporting moment, it was sickeningly boring.

Surely this most be the considered by golfers the worst of the Majors.

All you get is a green jacket (when can you wear that?) and a toy model house. I wouldn't bother if it were me. ;)

(In fairness, I'm not a golf fan but did enjoy watching the last 30 minutes or so yesterday)
