Re: Burnley FC women
What division do they go into now?
Re: Burnley FC women
Good achievement but the current team is miles off the standard of the top league.
I did hear on Friday though that Burnley are planning to invest much more seriously in the women’s team from next season.

Who's going to invest?
If we have any spare cash (IMO) the money needs to be invested in the following areas:-
1, the first team squad
2, youth development
3, improving the match day experience for our supporters (be that ground improvements, cheaper tickets etc)
4, community projects (maybe women's football comes under that banner?)

When our pitch was changed to a Desso one, we were told that it would / could support many more games being played on it.Foulthrow wrote:Why?

With that in mind, i'd love to see regular U23 and Womens team games on the Turf, maybe on Friday nights when we are away the day after?

Sounds like a very good idea ZC unless there's a good reason why not, again in my humble.ZizkovClaret wrote:When our pitch was changed to a Desso one, we were told that it would / could support many more games being played on it.

One caveat that not on a Friday night though as live footy on that night has been historically bad for attendances in Burnley.

. thinks it is much, much cheaper for the ladies to play at the Arbories - that and their attendances are barely around the 70 mark.ZizkovClaret wrote:When our pitch was changed to a Desso one, we were told that it would / could support many more games being played on it.

The womens team is funded by our community stuff.Foulthrow wrote:Why?

Very little is currently invested in this currently - its basically the kits, training equipment, travel and the cost of playing their home games at Padiham. We are talking a few thousands of pounds out of our £150m annual revenue.
We are a premier league team and given the number of women / girls who support the club and the growth of their football its absolutely right for us to invest more money in this area. The standard of our current womens team and the whole set up is extremely low compared to even the likes of Blackburn Ladies let alone teams in the top division so it wouldn't take that much investment to improve this and develop a plan for the next few years. I think we also need to be integrating them more into the club rather than it coming under the community banner - e.g. training at Gawthorpe / using the club facilities etc.
As for all the other things you say need investing in we are doing all of these but we could do more...and still invest in the womens team a lot more than we do now.
