Jamie Carragher

Post by FactualFrank » Mon Apr 15, 2019 7:42 pm

I've got him and Gary Neville talking in the background - but how boring is Jamie Carragher? As soon as Gary Neville starts speaking, I subconsciously find myself listening. When Carragher talks, I almost fall asleep.

A few months ago Carragher interviewed Virgil Van Dyke (spelling?) on TV. It was amazing, I could understand everything the well spoken Dutchman said in English, whilst Carragher, I really could have done with an interpreter. I still don't understand why Sky pay him huge amounts of dosh after his spitting incident.

Same here. I thought the spitting incident would have done for him, given that he's a commentator of very limited ability.

Gary Neville is a wonderful pundit and analyst.

Gary Neville is on the other hand, a truly abysmal co-commentator. He’s monotone.

Still don’t understand how Carragher has a job. He literally spat on a teenage girl whilst representing Sky.

Imagine doing that in any other job bar the football industry and merely saying ‘sorry’ and being taken out of the limelight for three or four months.

It’s an even weirder decision when you add in the fact he offers absolutely nothing of interest and at times is inaudible.

Yes it's bizarre how Carragher has walked away from the spitting incident with his job intact.

Compare how quickly Sky jettisoned Andy Gray and Richard Keys back in 2011,quite rightly as it happened for their sexist comments.

And yet Carragher behaves so disgustingly and has no repercussions.

I no longer have Sky as i didn't watch it that much, but whenever i viewed the MNF,Carragher's lack of presentation skills was frightening.

You could add Peter Beagrie to that as well. Seems to be very much a case of double standards and going soft on him because of his star status.

It's a bit like the radio show "Just a Minute", where they have to talk for a minute without hesitation, repetition, or deviation. Except in this case it's 90 minutes, and deviation and repetition are encouraged. If two blokes like football commentators were sat behind you, could you resist the temptation to shut them up?

My mother's deaf and tells me to let her know if they say anything interesting. I can go 45 minutes and tell her nothing.
