2019 World Snooker Championship

Post by JimMcDonald » Tue Apr 16, 2019 10:54 am

Starts Saturday, Who do we all fancy ?

The Rocket at 13/5 is a cracking price.

Judd and Robertson who have both been playing some great snooker are both 6/1.

Selby at 10/1 is a MASSIVE price if he turns up.

Mark Allen is the underdog for me this year at 20/1. Think ill bet E/W on him.

Cant wait for a great 2 weeks of snooker.

I have gone £1 ew on Ding at 28-1 not in great form but capable of beating everyone when on form so not bad odds really, probably Robertson or Trump, but a shout for Hawkins who has been close the last few years maybe this year is his year.

I can't believe Martin Gould is only 37. He must have had one hell of an uphill paper round.

I feel a bit sorry for Michael Georgiou it's looking a likely 10-0 loss to Robertson with the way the match is going.

Shaun Murphy? He comes across as though he feels he's above everybody else. I'm still not sure on why Bingham dislikes him so much though.

Currently Brecel 9-9 Wilson, been playing decider for 40 mins and still 7 reds on the table, really scrappy frame all reds tied up on black cushion.

Finished 10-1,so Georgiou wasn't bageled, mind you Luo Honghao the Chinese player might be he's 9-0 down to Shaun Murphy, been very one-sided judging by the fact Honghao's highest frame total is 33,4 centuries for Murphy so he's evidently in good form.

Well Frank I reckon that decider between Wilson and Brecel one of the most exciting games since Taylor v Davis 1985.....
What safety play was that ... the setting and getting out of snookers... 1st class.
Tactical Snooker at its very best.

Absolutely pal. When the reds were bunched up at the bottom of the table, I still expected a re-rack, even though Brecel was something like 30 points clear.

All of this, and Ronnie hasn't even broke off yet! What a game.

The escape Wilson made from behind the green, on the first attempt, with side, almost dead weight but still safe, across the table twice, through four colours was one of the best shots I’ve ever seen.

Cracking comeback from Dott, Bingham was 8-1 up after first session, now 9-8 Bingham looking like 9-9. Great stuff, hope Dott does it, good player to watch.

Bingham squeaking through 10-9,talk about nearly snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Just glancing at the scores and apart from the Robertson and Murphy matches, all the rest have been keenly fought affairs.

You have to wonder if Ronnie will jack it in now,he doesn't look to be motivated anymore.

Ronnie doesn't like the BBC coverage. Look at him when it's the ITV or Eurosport, he has more bants with them. He's also now on the commentating coverage with them. He doesn't need the money. He'll pack comps like this in.

David Gilbert has really impressed me, watched him against Williams and it was like watching Ronnie at times, just had that aura about him, then come through a tough challenge against K. Wilson. G. Wilson also very impressive but surely it has to Trump-Higgins final? Although I’m wanting Gilbert from now on just because of the way he played against Williams, really was top notch snooker. Going to be great to watch.

Seems to be the year of the comeback, first Tiger now perhaps John Higgins, would be his 1st triumph since 2011.

I think he's the only one remaining who's actually won a WC,that experience could prove helpful in getting him over the line.

It's not really a comeback though. He reached the final the last two years.

Also, the last time he won it was the year Judd Trump exploded onto the scene, who he beat in the final. So it'd be great to see those two in the final again.

Though, tbh, i kinda want to see Wilson and Gilbert in the final. 37 and 33 years old. Between then before this year they only played in the world championship 5 times and only won 1 match (Gilbert in 2012) and now they're both in the semi-finals.

True but he didn't win,bit like Tiger who has been finishing high in majors, but not closing the deal until Augusta.

If Higgins can win this year he'll go level with Ronnie on 5 wins each, believe me to these guys, stats like that matter.

Still hard to see any of them equalling or bettering Hendry's 7 Crucible titles.

Great stuff, Fair play Higgins he just doesn’t know when he’s beaten, deserves a decider this one.
