Re: Trippier for sale..
Bosscat - sadly if I am right and I am sure someone else will know for certain but spurs met a release clause we had in the contract which didn’t have any sell on clauses attached so we will get nothing more so it’s a massive double bust as they got him from us for way under the valuation of him.
On that note does anyone know if any other players have a release clause In the contracts and for how much both for buying and selling? Maybe needs it’s own thread not sure.
I know the Spanish clubs love them.

Apparently Walters had a release clause whereby we had to give the team taking him off our hands £1m. I think we got round it by just loaning him out rather than getting shotTexanclaret16 wrote:On that note does anyone know if any other players have a release clause In the contracts and for how much both for buying and selling? Re: Trippier for sale..
Has had a poorish season post-World Cup, Sterling too good for him recently.
Re: Trippier for sale..
Not even Daniel Levy will be able to get anyone to pay 40 million for Trippier! West Ham would be a decent move for him as a replacement for Zabaleta.
Re: Trippier for sale..
The only thing thats for sure is that he won't be coming here. As much as I like Trippier there is no way he's worth anywhere near that figure.

Played well at city midweek. Crazy to get rid
Re: Trippier for sale..
Would love Trippier back, whilst Lowton has just as sharp a cross on him and is useful as an attacking FB, he just doesn’t have the defensive skills Tripps had. Shame we could never afford the fee let alone his wages.

I seem to remember Wilfrid Zaha at Utd and not fitting in... so he returned to Palace permanently

Re: Trippier for sale..
We had a previous thread, few weeks back, on Tripps being on Spurs "available" list. Before that we had Tripps interview when he said he'd like to play for Sean Dyche and Burnley again.
I'm sure it's a mistake to say Tripps will go for £40 million. I'd love it if Tripps is available in Burnley's budget.
And, re the £3.5 million release clause, that was the deal Burnley did with Tripps to keep him at the Turf for one Moor (see what I did there) season. As I understand was covered at the time, if we'd not agreed £3.5 million release (and no add-ons would be consistent with this), Tripps would have gone a season earlier. Danny Ings took the other route, but he was young enough that we got some "development compo" and did quite well on it.
"Google" suggests ManU and Napoli are interested, though ManU fans don't want him and Napoli can't afford £40 million.

His goals and assists is good for Palace - his ability to win a pen is world class - double figures most seasons
Re: Trippier for sale..
He played awful - Sterling tore him a new one.theroyaldyche wrote:Played well at city midweek. Crazy to get rid
I love Tripps but he’s struggled with injury and form this year - I still think he’s a great right back playing in the right system. I’m guessing Harry Kane would rather have Tripps as right back than any other player as he’s made tons of chances and goals for him.
In this market £40m sounds about right for a player who was the best right back in the World Cup less than a year ago.
He’s better than anything United have got at the moment - and probably Arsenal. Good enough for top 6 club or a move abroad to a top team.
Re: Trippier for sale..
Not quite. In the same way as they maximised Walker to Man. City, so they are with Trippier. The young man, who played yesterday, looks to be waiting in the wings, as understudy to Aurier...although he could go, too or instead of Trippier.joey13 wrote:It’s a lot of money for a fullback they deem not good enough

He'll be a top signing for Sale
Re: Trippier for sale..
He was playing as a wing back at the World Cup though. It's been shown that he just isn't good enough defensively to play as an out and out right back at the very top level.

Napoli fear being priced out of a move for Kieran Trippier, with the Italians expecting Tottenham to value the England right-back at £40m. (Sun)

They, Spurs, got him on the cheap. Realease clause on relegation for a very low fee. I'm sure we've learnt since then.

Re: Trippier for sale..
Release clauses don't have sell on clauses attached but a release clause is not a transfer deal, just a right for a club to buy him from us and we have every right to include a sell on clause.Texanclaret16 wrote:Bosscat - sadly if I am right and I am sure someone else will know for certain but spurs met a release clause we had in the contract which didn’t have any sell on clauses attached so we will get nothing more so it’s a massive double bust as they got him from us for way under the valuation of him.

To be fair, I'm not sure that appears that he was treated harshly. It does appear however that Zaha is denying it.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote:Zaha said in a recent interview that it was a false rumour that no one helped him to dispell.

Re: Trippier for sale..
I think we should sign him. I think £40m is a fair price if we get him on a 5 year deal with relegation clauses. Still the potential to claw money back should we decide to sell him.
Re: Trippier for sale..
There's zero chance the club would spend £40m on a fullback. And quite right too.claptrappers_union wrote:I think we should sign him. I think £40m is a fair price if we get him on a 5 year deal with relegation clauses. Still the potential to claw money back should we decide to sell him.

I like Lowton a lot, but to say he's as good at crossing as Trippier is an extreme case of rose tinted spectacles.
