Thought he played really well. Tough first 20 when Hazard was on fire but he battled back superbly.

Interesting angle you’ve gone for after a fantastic result and a season defining point.

Lowton was very poor in the first half but he was often isolated against one of the best players in the league. Dyche tweaked something at half time and Lowton was given more help and as a result pretty much nullified Chelsea’s only threat.

I don’t disagree that a right back would be on my shopping list but I’m not sure why you would feel the need to start a thread about that now.

Stuck to the task well, Hazard roasted him in the 1st half but Lowton stuck at it and kept him quiet in the 2nd with help from Jeff, a great team effort

Common nature for this board to have some whoppers isn't it. I mean I know it's to create a bit of a stir but some people either way need to get a life.

Absolutely. Well said.

A superb team effort, a defensive master class in the second half, and we choose to nit pick Matt Lowton’s performance against the best left winger in the world.

Nice one.

Lowton was fantastic last season, if we was consistently brilliant in this league then he wouldn’t be playing for us. This season hasn’t been his best but he’s well worth keeping and tonight he played against the best player in that position in the league and a player who is frighteningly good one on one. Give it a rest

There is a reason Mr Hazard is being linked with a move to Real Madrid,he is actually quite good, and will toy with most right-backs in this league when he's in the mood,Lowts stuck to the task in the 2nd half manfully, sometimes you have to hold your hands up and give the opposition credit.

I thought that Lowton had an excellent game and that Phil Bardsley will be somewhat disappointed as he’s likely to lose his place in the team now.

There is not one player in our team tonight who should be singled out for anything other than praise for being part of an excellent team performance.
Eleven guys who worked their socks off for the point which they fully deserved against a team who have only dropped 13 points at home in 17 matches before tonight.

Lowton responded wonderfully after getting a difficult test at the start. In the 2nd half, Hazard (perhaps one of the best in the world, by the way) decided to shirk responsibility and pass the buck. He was helped by Hendrick and co covering deep. He stll deserves credit for a good game.

Too close to Wigan for my liking but, if you're talking about our right back, he did his best against one of the best players in the World. He'd have run any full back ragged tonight.

Lowton struggled the first half with Hazard, second half when the much maligned Jeff Hendrick doubled up on Hazard with Lowton he didn't get a sniff, well played Lowton,Hendrick & Dyche.

Anyone who's played full back or wide know's you don't give the attacker room and time to think and Lowton was guilty of that in the first half, Dyche having played FB must have had a word because Lowts was better in the SH.

I doubt there's many FBs on here played against a winger as good as Hazard. I certainly didnt - nowhere near.

Excellent throughout for me. Sure, Hazard gave him a tough time first half and got the assist for the equaliser, but the skill level was sublime and there's not a full back in the league who can cope with Hazard in that position, showing that much skill.

Big problem we had on that side first half was that Hendrick and Lowton effectively had 3 men too often - Emerson, Hazard and then Loftus Cheek going that way (as indeed happened for the goal - Westwood was the wrong side, bounced off Loftus Cheek and suddenly the overload was on). That meant we couldn't double up on Hazard because it would have meant both Loftus Cheek and Emerson being left free, not just one. Once Westwood/Cork were deeper, Loftus Cheek wasn't able to drive in behind them and from that moment we coped as comfortably with Hazard as anyone has all season.

You'd best tell Sean Dyche that - he's been drilling our full backs to stay narrow and accept the cross coming in as the lesser of all evils for the last 6 years, with the wide midfielder working back to deal with wider threat. I think that's worked pretty well all told. Indeed, it worked for us in the second half yesterday once we'd dealt with Loftus Cheek, as I say - Lowton's positioning didn't really change.

For the main part Lowton kept Hazard away from the danger area's. Most fb's would've dived in, try to drop him or shown him too much respect. I think there was only one time Lowts went to ground. He's not the best defensively but I love the way he's not phased and gets in the opponents faces.

No way on this planet after that result and performance should anyone get slated or have their name brought up because at this moment in time it has no relevance.

Staggering how some people watch so many of our games and still don't understand how we defend.

Then again this board is is littered with folk who know more than Dyche

Weirdly, Chelsea caused us far more aggravation on our left flank, Taylor had his hands more than full over there, yet there's no thread berating him or wanting him replaced...

Credit it where it's due to Azpiluceta for his flick to Higuain for his goal, you wouldn't expect that from many fullbacks.

I played full back and I always stayed goal side, I'd rather they had room where I can see them and block their progress than get too close, dive in and watch them skip past me.
