He's a defender and plays for Chelsea - yet doesn't understand the game. That is why Chelsea aren't challenging for the title.

Funny thing is, the Chelsea fans on Shed End really hate Ashley Barnes (partly because of when Mata got himself sent off after making that tackle that neraly injured himself). But they particularly hate a player who makes himself awkward, who puts himself about, who gets in the defenders' faces and minds, who wins free kicks, who generally is a pain in the backside for the opponents. But they love David Luiz. How strangely inconsistent.

To be fair he has a point. I was obviously delighted with the point the Clarets needed but I was not proud of our performance. SD goes on about fairness and honesty but in the second half we milked every tackle,"injury", "cramp" to an embarrassing degree. I was just waiting for Barnes to be booked for play acting.

Watched it with a mate - a Leicesterl fan - and he asked me if we played like that most weeks and how anybody could enjoy watching it - he kept pointing out we had 11 players within 30 yards of the goal for literally 90% of the second half.

I know the end justifies the means but could we not have shown just a bit of adventure, a bit of football or a bit of attacking - we are staying in the Premier league again but I defy anyone to say they enjoy watching that stuff.

I actually like it when players say this. It shouts out how good we actually are. This is no fluke - we should have really got all 3 points at Old Trafford and we beat Spurs. So don't let this annoy you - just smile, because it shows we're a very good side.

We finished 7th last season and the table for 2019 was we're 5th... that might have even improved now.

So if someone so unprofessional as Worzel Gummidge starts crying... feck him. We played well and deserved the point.

I enjoyed watching that stuff. Easy.

What do you expect? We did attack them. Enough to score two goals, and to give Wood a very good chance to make it three. I suppose it could have been more entertaining for your Leicester friend if we had bombed forward and left plenty of gaps for Chelsea to score five or six, but that's not really what I see the game as being about.

Whether it's a player or a fan when they utter that anti-football nonsense they just show how little they know about football, football history and football tactics.

Many great football teams have used tactics that would be deemed anti-football by these prawn sandwich eaters and football mercenaries who themselves use so called anti-football tactics (diving and simulation being against the laws of the game must be more anti-football than defending which as far as I know is legal and an important skill. Time wasting whilst punishable is less of an offence than the kind of so called anti-football that Luiz gets up to all the time.) Bit of a rant, sorry.

How can you not enjoy that if you're a Burnley fan?

Chelsea are anti football. A club that shouldve been bankrupt and tumbled down the leagues but twice were bought out by unsavoury characters to artificially enhance their team, trophy cabinet and fans' egos. That is the opposite of what football should be about.

Meanwhile we work hard for what we have and fight man to man for 90 minutes against this club assembled from some rich fellas wallet and we are anti football?

Don't make me laugh. It's only a plastic club like Chelsea that wouldn't know what real football was if it jumped out and said 'here I am!'

Sorry my friend, I do enjoy watching that stuff ( as you call it) --football these days is getting more and more boring because of teams, such as Chelsea etc., passing the ball around ad infinitum just so that they can say that they had xx numbers of passes,xx% possession etc., etc ad nauseam. Yes, Chelsea have some good players --better than our lads in almost every position --however, you only win games by scoring more goals than the opposition and it is this statistic that nullifies everything else. Chelsea tonight sometimes took over 15 passes to get the ball out of their own half --and then lost it anyway.
I am more and more convinced that more and more fans think that football is just about attacking and keeping possession, therefore, they will never appreciate just what a great TEAM performance that was tonight. The result is what matters.
I watched us play when we won the League back in 1959/60 and the football was far better than anything we play now, however, had we gone out tonight to try to match Chelsea with football we would have been hammered.
Sean got the tactics spot on with the players at his disposal and we came away with a hard-earned point. Play to your strengths ---get results.

Fair enough - we can disagree about the morality of it but it was certainly effective and SD in his interview after the match more or less said the same thing - the end justifies the means.

Like I say - Chelsea could have been well up in the first 15 minutes. After that, we deserved the point.

Why do so many people who no doubt list football as one of their interests, have no clue of the sport? It's crackers.

I love winning against bad losers (and this was winning, in all but name, as we got everything we needed and they got nothing they needed).

Whether it is a sport I am playing or supporting, it tastes far sweeter.

Chelsea are such a classless side and club. Always have been. Even billions hasn’t changed it. Coming from one of the nicest areas in Britain is one of lifes great ironies.

It’s hilarious how badly the top sides take it when they don’t roll over the small fish.

We definitely employed some time wasting tactics in the second half but you see the exact same thing from the big clubs when they’re up against it.

Absolutely. We had a go at them at the start of the second half and fancied us to go 3-2 up. Like I say... give us the money they have and we'll be in the top 4.

kindonyes.....people understand what you're saying, but you do realise we were playing Chelsea, dont you?
Not Scunthorpe reserves? ;) And we scored twice, by the way.
But attacking them and leaving gaps was just what they would have wanted. They'd have picked us off easily, Hazard in particular
would have thought it was his birthday.

As SD has explained many times, we can't play the top teams at their own game,
we don't have the players for that, so we have to do it OUR way.

And yes, I for one enjoyed it tonight, not just the result.

My earlier post was certainly not defending Luiz - can't stand the fop - but the radio has had a lot of callers questioning how Sean Dyche can talk about honesty and play acting in football and then send out a team with obvious instructions to "play" the way he did. There does seem a whiff of hypocrisy - apparently the second half had more "injury" time than any half this season !

I really don’t understand what all the hoopla is all about! What the hell did Chelski expect from Burnley? Every opposing manager knows, or should know, exactly what they’re going to get from Burnley! As Dyche noted in post game interviews, we do what we need to do in order to survive in the PL!
