I don't care about any of it, just pointing it out.

I'm not Scottish so not sure why you're bringing that up.

You need to vote Labour then,of course whether they'll get the day right is questionable.

St .George is the patron Saint of about 10 other countries as well as England. The country of Georgia is named after him so I guess they have a public holiday on his feast day! A long way to go though for an extra day off, (unless you happen to live in Georgia.)

We should take a leaf out of Mr Dyche's recruiting strategy and only get our patron saints from British or Irish countries.

My girlfriend was doing a competition in a magazine earlier this afternoon when she asked me, "Babes, do you know the name of the lance St George used to kill the dragon?"

I said, "Ascalon."

She got up and walked to the front door to go out.

I said, "Now where are you going?"

She said, "Over the road to ask Alan." ... sometimes I wonder why I bother getting up in the morning.

The English are more bothered about St Patrick than George, been that way for a long time thanks to clever marketing by shops.

I don't understand what 'celebrate' means in terms of St Georges Day. How do you celebrate it, what are you supposed to do?

Flags, stupid hats, t-shirts, sing about beating Germans, drink booze and ignore the religious aspect of it.

Similar to Paddy's Day

I don’t know any English men who celebrate st Patrick’s more than St. George’s.

St Patrick’s is thrown down our necks as a drinking festival, and always has been, so maybe that is what you mean.

I would have thought that the four new proposed bank holidays, to spread them out through the year, ought to be:

18th June
8th August
15th September
21st October

And if the Scots get independence, we could add 16th April as a bonus.

He's the patron saint of more than 40 countries. I researched the legends of all of them before writing my book :)
