At Stamford Bridge on Monday night, my friend pointed out that the three men and three young boys in front of us were from Italy. When half-time arrived, I spoke to one of the men to ask why they supported Burnley. He informed me that they were from Genoa and had obtained the tickets from a ticket kiosk in Piccadilly (West End of London).
How on earth have 6 Burnley away tickets (thete may have been many more) become available at a place like this? It's just not fair on real Burnley supporters who missed out.
On the positive side, the Italians gave us excellent support throughout the match.

I kno lad who rents out a season ticket at anfield for upwards of 500 per game

Sadly, the purchase price was way below face value, so left an opportunity for the unscrupulous.

The only way to stop it is if they could trace the serial number on the tickets.

If they found out who had sold the tickets on they would be well within their rights to ban the supporter from future games.

They have to have the details of where these folk were sitting, first!

Find that difficult to believe. Once we get our allocation they can only be sold from our club. We did sell out but only on the previous Thursday so no Burnley fans wishing to go missed out. Also, for this game, because of the £10 offer, they were only available to people who had purchase history of games not against Chelsea.

There were loads in the away end at Arsenal just before christmas. Both matches went to general sale so I imagine they may well have been bought by either the fans or the ticket agencies. (Obviously there are legal implications for agencies doing this as ticket touting is illegal where football is concerned.)

Think the Liverpool away game was sold out but a group of Athletic Bilbao fans we are in the away end.

I didn't go to the game but it's correct, I saw a photo of fans wearing shirts of a different club in the away end with clarets and wondered who they might be.

There was someone next but one to me in the stand at Chelsea in an Algeria shirt but he's a Burnley fan

I stopped wearing it and we weren't getting the results, so I went back to it. I didn't wear it at Chelsea though I have to admit, it was shirt sleeves weather.

I'm probably totally wrong but I bought a ticket online as soon as they came on sale and sat at the front next to the Chelsea fans.

My voice is still not working from the singing on Monday night but hardly any of the fans around me sang or even stood up and cheered when we scored.

It was very strange but you tend to recognise most of the Burnley fans watching away week in and week out but there were many strange faces around me on Monday.

The reduced allocation for away fans of all clubs is very poor. And personally I'm not interested in the points system either....on a positive note my jamaican friends gave Burnley excellent support throughout the Chelsea game. as did I.

Difficult to believe or not, they were there. They were on row 18, seat numbers 39-44 (assuming the numbers on the row in front were the same as our group). We got our seats from the Foundation, so maybe that’s a starting point. Could you do some digging Tony?

I should have added that we were in the upper tier.

Could it be that because of the bank holiday/transport/tube issues that Burnley fans that bought tickets “passed” them on to somebody else?

Whilst we are on the subject Shed Upper Row 19 seats 68 & 69 next to my son and I. Man who looked like Chris Kamara and his daughter(?) I'm guessing they were either Spanish or South American but couldn't speak English. No way they were Burnley fans and were quite surprised by all the jollity.

Watching a Premier League game in London is on most foreign tourists list of things to do. The tickets are freely available via the concierge in most of the better hotels.

Too many Maccas knocking about in CFS , all gets a bit confusing.

We fairly regularly have posts on here where we, Burnley fans, ask for advice about football matches abroad. I remember one about Valencia or Sevilla fairly recently. These Italians and/or South Americans etc are doing exactly the same. When I'm abroad I often look at football fixtures to see if it'd be possible for me to take a game in, it's a great way to experience the culture and quirks of the place you're visiting. I totally get it if it becomes a persistent problem in stopping the The True Fans™ getting tickets but I can't imagine it's a massive issue at the moment, if ever it will be, for Burnley. Never know, it might all help Brand Burnley™ across the continent and beyond. Gianluigi humming Aye Aye Ashley in the arrivals of Leonardo da Vinci International.

We don't sell out quick enough to any fixture to have investigations into this.

The club simply want to get shut of the tickets.

I don't think there is any accusation that the tickets were sold, by the club, in an illegitimate way. I am sure they were all snapped up by Clarets. However, if away tickets could be purchased, from a ticket agency, like theatre tickets, then Clarets sold them on.

Behind me were folk speaking a foreign language and it wasn't Yorkshire!

I know loads of people who have done this and are now as claret and blue as us. Italianclaret88 - came to watch us at Brentford a few years ago. Now as big a claret as any of us and has probably been more games than many on here (and we usually win!!!)

If you want a ticket that much you will get it.

At Arsenal a couple of years ago we met a Spanish lad in the pub there. He was on holiday with his wife in London and had bought a ticket online as he always wanted to see a PL game. He was given a Burnley shirt and scarf by our group which he then proudly wore in the home section. Since then he's kept in touch and become a follower of the Clarets. He brought his wife over a couple of weeks ago to attend a home game and stay for a few days in Burnley.

Did the man find it all unbelievable?

The most widely shared photo of our fans at Chelsea had about 5 different clubs' shirts on the front row.

Perhaps..as odd as we think it is at the moment..foreign fans are starting to support us? Easier to see us in London with it being a touristy place. Of course the odds are they are just random people catching a game but if it helps us gain a following oversees it can't be bad. It does make you wonder how they have come by their tickets though.

On many occasions wandering down Harry Potts Way i have heard foreign voices around me. A guy from the US stopped me earlier in the season in the town centre asking the way to the ground. Russians, scandinavians, Yorkshire..heard it all. All comes with being in the Prem.

I got tickets for 6 lads from Austria who support Burnley for Man Utd away and Southampton at home. They came over for 6 days. Also sorted out a ground tour for them.. They absolutely loved it!

CT the 6 Italians that my pal Tonbridge Claret spoke of comprised 3 dads and their 3 young sons, on holiday in London from Genoa. Although they had limited English they were able to answer my pal's question about how they had managed to buy tickets; it was from a ticket booth in London's West End. And that's the unsolved mystery - how did a row of six tickets become available at a West End ticket outlet in that way?

The rights and wrongs of the ticket availability aside, it was great to see that all six enjoyed the experience hugely. They went wild when we scored and joined in enthusiastically with every chant that they could: they even asked me to explain the words to "We are the Longside", which I translated for them, showing them pictures of our Longside old and new .

Goodness knows how much they paid for those tickets, but those lads will never ever forget it.
