Simon Inglis's book " The Football Grounds of Britain " is a great read, but is much overdue a " Revised edition " ...

Re: Archibald Leitch - Ground Architect
I think Simon Inglis’ problem with writing a revised edition of his book is that the majority of changes to English football stadia in the last 20 years have resulted in entirely new grounds, many of which look exactly the same as each other. I mean, how on earth do you wax lyrical about the identikit stadia built by Swansea, Southampton, Leicester, Coventry, Cardiff, Derby, Middlesbrough etc, the only distinguishing features being the colours of the seats?Clarets4me wrote:Simon Inglis's book " The Football Grounds of Britain " is a great read, but is much overdue a " Revised edition " ...

Re: Archibald Leitch - Ground Architect
Not much left of his work nowadays probably owing to the fact that his stands were in the main wooden. Think the closest example of his work is the stand at Everton where the away fans are put..and we know it has its problems.

Re: Archibald Leitch - Ground Architect
Probably Archibald Leach in honour of Cary Grant. Also written on a gravestone in Arsenic & Old Lace.bob-the-scutter wrote:Wasn`t that John Cleese`s character in A Fish Called Wanda?
Edit Wikipedia confirms John Cleese character spelling.
Archibald Leach may refer to:
Cary Grant, film actor, born Archibald Leach
Archibald Leech (American football)
Archibald Leitch, architect
Archibald Leach, fictional character played by John Cleese in the film A Fish Called Wanda
Archie Leach, fictional character played by Richard Chamberlain in the TV Series Leverage
