Re: Invaded by Ants
Get an Ant trap. Don't get a cheap one though they are usually crap. We get ants most summers and use one from B&Q can't remember the name but it is black and square with 4 bases in it.

Re: Invaded by Ants
Yes its a horrible problem to have we in Spain get a full colony when they've hatched in the walls and start coming out in the vents to raid your house
Find where they are coming from and spray fly spray for two days it stinks for a bit but keep spraying and you wont get another after two days

Re: Invaded by Ants
I have a lot of ants in my back garden & 2 or 3 times in the last 20 years they've invaded the kitchen. Best defence for me is, as soon as I get a warm sunny day (1-2 weeks ago here), put ant-killer powder down along the bottom of the house wall /step so they cant get into the house in the first place. Repeat this in mid summer.
When they've got into the house (ie I've been tardy with the above defence), I've watched the blighters to see where they were coming from (it'll be at ground level somewhere & probably from outside) and then bung some killer powder along that track on the ground (being a bit more careful with placement inside the kitchen than outdoors).
Annoying little blighters but you have to admire their work ethic/persistence.

Re: Invaded by Ants
You cant do that with the power if you have pets though it can make them very ill and can cost you a fortune at the vets

Re: Invaded by Ants
I dont have pets but I have some regard for neighbours cats who frequent my garden (mainly because its a bit wild and is child-free rather than to use as a toilet, thankfully). The stuff I use says its OK for pets (and children) but I cant vouch for that)

Re: Invaded by Ants
We get a lot every year. I use one or two (depending which way they are coming in) of the small plastic traps along the line they are walking on, then sprinkle poison outside where they are most active.

Re: Invaded by Ants
Get some Ant Stop. They drag the crystals into their den, then the poison gets to work and kills the bloody lot of them!"
Re: Invaded by Ants
Had a problem from front door through into the kitchen and still don't know whether there was one nest or two. From the inside the job is to safely kill the queen, doing this by poisoning the scout ants who then take it back into the nest. So ant traps as suggested, at a few quid a time. Outside use the ant kill powder as suggested. Fill any obvious holes near the house wall. Inside I also used cinnamon oil spread with a cotton bud along sides of units which they won't cross and repels them, but stinks.
Re: Invaded by Ants
Put on "Ant Rap" by Adam and the Ants when the buggers come out to party stomp on them ....
Hope this helps

Re: Invaded by Ants
Ants can't fart so mix icing sugar and bicarbonate of soda together, the ants love sugar and digest the soda consequently they blow up.

Re: Invaded by Ants
We use those wipes for preventing mosquito bites the ones you can buy at most pound shops or Home and Bargain, only cheap but very effective , if you wipe them around door and window frames the little bleeders wont go anywhere near , I swear by them and wouldn't go abroad without them, give them a try they work well.

Re: Invaded by Ants
Another suggestion, if you find them in your home, get out the vacuum, tip a small amount of ant powder on the floor, vacuum it up, then hoover up the ants, they will die quickly in the vac.

Put them to work!
They can tidy up, shift the furniture, eat the fruit.
Chop, chop, busy, busy, work, work, bang, bang!
