Is CT related to Wood? If he thinks that was a very good performance then he'd probably score Lionel Messi 1million.

Heaton 8 - 2 great saves
Lowton 8 - Great game kept Sterling and Sane quiet.
Tarkowski 8 - Great game
Mee 9 MOM - Class
Taylor 6 - Poor
Hendrick 7
Cork 8
Westwood 8 - Kept it simple and never stopped ratting.
McNeil 5 - Very lightweight. Poor. Hes not the quickest is he. Walker went past him with ease.
Barnes 8 - Some great hold up play. Lucky not to have given away a pen with the handball.
Wood 6 - Should of done better with the one on one.

Heaton. 8. Several good saves
Lowton. 8. Dealt with Sterling well while he was out wide
Tarks. Very strong but could he have done better on the goal?
Mee.9. Mom. Immense again. That goal line clearance!
Taylor. 8. Sane did not do well against him
Hendrick. 8. Lots of critical defensive interventions
Westwood. 8. Continues a strong run of form
Cork.7. Thought he could have held the ball better
McNeil. 6 . Lots of good defensive work, but...
Barnes. 8. Some really skilled hold up play today
Wood. 7. See Barnes
Subs. 6

Subs no real impact

Contained them v well first half but really didn’t give them much to deal with at the other. We did make them look more ordinary than they are which is a credit to us as I think they are better than ever this season.

Nothing wrong with that at all, but City upped their game second half and we couldn't break up their momentum often enough to keep them out.

Heaton 8 - very solid
Lowton 8* - v.impressive
Tarks 8 - again, defended really well
Mee 8 - astonishing goal line clearance
Hendrick 8 - work rate and covering top notch
Cork 8 - as above
Westwood 8 - been a revelation since Xmas
McNeil 7 - another game in which he's learnt a hell of a lot from
Barnes 7 - held it up well
Wood 6 - as above, put only really 1st half

Subs
JBG 6
Vydra 7 - thought this was an excellent cameo from him, which hopefully bodes well for next season

Vydra looked neat and tidy, could get some minutes next season if we are going to play a bit more on the deck through the units.

No argument with the result, but noticed how much luck the good players get, many a misplaced pass or shot fell back to them or a team mate to build or continue an atrack was unbelievable.

Heaton 8 sound performance again from Tom
Lowton 6 did ok but lack of pace let him down
Mee/Tarks 9 immense throughout
Taylor 7 ok defensively especially as Mc Neill virtually no help
Hendrick 5 offered nothing offensively, got back to add numbers defensively but flatters to deceive.
Cork/Westwood 7 ran ragged by a superior midfield but stuck to their task
McNeill 5 poor throughout, lost defensively, offered very little attacking wise
Wood 5 first touch let him down again first half but he is weak on the ball for a big lad
Barnes7 put himself about but struggled for the most part through a lack of support around him and a weak referee

Johann 5 needs to start if we are to carry any sort of threat down both wings
Vydra 7 only a cameo but showed enough to maybe suggest a start alongside Barnes

Dyche 4 to slow to change things when it isn't working, Brady should surely have replaced McNeill on the hour mark, time to give others a chance instead of same old same old

Heaton 8 - a couple of very fine saves

Lowton 7 - well defended and very unlucky with the goal.
Tarkowski - 7
Mee 9 - another great defensive performance. What a block!
Taylor 7

Hendrick 7 - played well enough but would like him central instead of cork as he’s better on the ball
Westwood 7 - solid
Cork 6 - he’s not at his best and I think westwood carries him a bit.
McNeil 7 - not his best game as he was having to defend but when on the ball always looks good. Would love to see him central with JBG and Brady wide and 1 up top.

Wood 6 - not at his best but little service and he had a few good touches
Barnes 6 - see wood

Vydra 8 - looked very good. Won quite a few aerial balls as well despite him being smaller.

Really good effort from the lads, particularly with safety assured, but in truth we were - for all our effort - barely able to lay a glove on City, which is lest we forget something we have with the vast majority of the Premier League.

Heaton - 8 - Couple of really solid saves, even if he'd expect to make them, and generally very assured. Distribution also very good today and that was often our most fruitful route to cause them a problem or two.

Lowton - 8 - Defended really, really diligently one v one. Perhaps at his best he'd be slightly more progressive in possession, and he'll probably feel he should have done better for the goal, but overall he can be pretty satisfied with his efforts.

Taylor - 8 - City did their homework and forced him onto his right foot a lot, which checked his effectiveness, and he too might have produced more quality on the rare occasions he got a chance to look forwards, but once again he stuck gamely to the task defensively and he can be particularly proud of how effectively he closed down City's right hand side.

Tarkowski - 10 - Thought he was pretty much flawless, and every bit as good as, say, Mee at Chelsea. Showed how good a footballer is a couple of times when he was put under pressure, and did all the basics supremely well.

Mee - 9 - Another very very good effort, capped with the customary absolutely extra extraordinary goal line clearance, although if we're being hyper-critical his distribution wasn't quite as good as it might have been on occasions, which apart from anything put Taylor under pressure once or twice.

Cork - 8 - The pick of our midfield, did a super-diligent screening job and got on the ball tidily when he could.

Westwood - 7 - Another very steady afternoon's work, although there were a couple of occasions when he might have moved the ball a bit more decisively.

Hendrick - 8 - Thought he had a really effective afternoon, helping Lowton tie up the City left, and breaking into central areas when we got the ball to help us have a counter attacking threat. Perhaps had he got the ball out of his feet a fraction earlier and got the ball through to Wood cleanly, the chance in the first half would have been easier for Wood, but in truth it was still pretty gilt edged. Unlucky to be hooked.

McNeil - 6 - Diligent defensively, which is an area where he continues to improve, but he was never really able to get into the game in an attacking sense and to an extent his afternoon was summed up when Taylor did well to slide a perfect pass down the outside to where he rightly expected McNeil to be, only to find McNeil on his heels 5 yards behind the ball. Mental and physical fatigue is inevitable after such a super run of performances, and perhaps Dyche will give him a break on Friday - I thought he might have been the man to make way for JBG today.

Barnes - 7 - Forced to battle with scraps but he did so gamely and showed some neat touches at times.

Wood - 5 - Well shackled by the City centre backs and whilst you couldn't fault the effort, this was one of those occasions when his awkwardness wasn't enough to cause the City backline too many problems. The one time he did get free, his clumsy first touch meant he didn't make the most of what should have been a gilt-edged chance.

Vydra - 6 - his extra mobility made us a touch more effective, and he showed a couple of tidy moments. His cameos recently do suggest that there might be something to work with next season.

JBG - 6 - No great penetration, but his busyness and dynamism at least hinted at something.

Plenty of teams have found it tough to really trouble City this season, and we were no exception. Certainly, at our best we can counter attack and deliver the ball forwards with more precision than we showed today and that might disappoint Dyche a fraction, but that was in no small part a reflection on how well City stop the opposition, as well as being a superb team on the ball. And Dyche will rightly be proud of the fact that despite having nothing to play for, we showed the application, desire and determination that are our hallmarks - and as a result, despite only really fashioning one real chance all afternoon - we saw City spend the last 5 minutes belting it anywhere, bringing on extra centre backs to defend their box and shamelessly wasting time in a manner that would presumably turn David Luiz apoplectic.

Two games left, and we're well capable of taking points from both of them, particularly if we keep up the level of application we showed here.

Heaton - 8 superb handling all day

Lowton - 9 thought he was excellent against all of Sane, Silva and Sterling

Tarkowski - 9 top drawer bar that needless ping into touch

Mee - 9 incredible block

Taylor - 8 got turned round a few times which is no disgrace against those boys

Cork - 7 driving force of the midfield today

Westwood - 6 full of running again but was a bit quick to aimlessly stand the ball up into the channels at times

Hendrick - 7 a solid job again

McNeil - 6 not a lot from him today although it was good to see him still going for it late on. Will have learned a load about the other side of the game again.

Barnes - 7 telling that Guardiola made a point of congratulating him at the end of the game as he gave both centre halves a battle

Wood - 5 a better touch and we'd have been 1 up

Shout out to Vydra as well who looked good when he came on.

Defensively this was an excellent performance and even though a team like city might find a way through in the end, it's taken a goal that barely crossed the line to win it.

First half we played the perfect game and frustrated the hell out of them but they stepped it and got a deserved if rather fortunate win.

Really good game, spoilt a little by another pissweak, overawed referee, and the team can be proud of themselves tonight. We need to build on performances like this and use them as a base for next season.

Tarks flawless? Did you not see the couple of times he gave it away in midfield leading to city attacks, or his long passes that went for a throw in? 8 out of 10 would probably be Ok, but 10 and flawless, even your long explanations Carnt explain that one...

I didn't say Tarks was flawless. I said he was "pretty much flawless".

Which allows for the odd chink of a flaw in his distribution (I think you're overstating that myself, but whatever you think) without detracting from the fact his defending was absolutely top drawer. It had to be, given the amount of the ball City had in threatening areas and the relatively few chances they actually had.

Good effort by all the lads today.

Not too disappointed with the result, we gave a good account of ourselves overall and it's not often you see a team like Man City resorting to playing 6 defenders to protect a 1-0 lead.

Which allows for the odd chink of a flaw in his distribution (I think you're overstating that myself, but whatever you think) without detracting from the fact his defending was absolutely top drawer. It had to be, given the amount of the ball City had in threatening areas and the relatively few chances they actually had.
10/10 tends to suggest you didn't think he made any mistakes, you don't see many 10s on here, so it would need to be faultless to get that, and to be honest, other than perhaps a goalkeeper making world class saves and a clean sheet, no player is ever 10/10.

Smashing, cheers for the guidance. Good to see you living up to your name.

Great defensive performance. Low marks for the attacking players as we had 2 shots and 0 on target. We were hanging on for a 1 0 defeat at one point instead of having a go. Proud of the effort and organisation but would like us to have at least 1 or 2 shots on target. No corners all game either. City are a great team though.
