It would be great to see Tripps holding aloft that European Cup. Hopefully another cracking game tonight, Ajax will take some beating over 2 legs, can Spurs pull it off?

I think this could be a very good tie - Ajax are clearly capable of beating anyone else out there.
I'm looking forward to this as I have a big soft spot for Ajax who are my favourite overseas team. I first got into football in the early 70s and Ajax just seemed to represent the very highest level of club football.
there was a thread on here a few days ago about replica overseas shirts. In 1972 I had a 'replica' Ajax shirt that I got from a local sports shop (it wasn't a proper replica shirt because they weren't around then - no club badge for instance). I used to wear it for PE at school and when we used to play footie on the local rec.
Bit unpatriotic but I'm hoping Ajax win tonight and go on to lift the European Cup.

When did we play Ajax in a friendly match at the Turf? I remember being there and Brian Roy was playing, can't remember the year though.

Just after the promotion in 92'. I'm sure it was this game when the announcer on the tannoy system couldn't pronounce one of the subs names, although my mind may be playing tricks..

It's the perfect game to soak in the atmosphere early doors, but you're right, rabbit rabbit rabbit.
That Spurs wall behind the goal is something else, it's a phenomenal stand, it'll become iconic in the footballing world.

Appalling from Spurs. It’s liking watching us away from home in 16/17 - backing off but still allowing space in the final third. Painful.

finished 1-4 and it should have been double, outstanding side and deffo the dark horse to win the whole thing. I think Barca and Liverpool will find them a very tricky team to play against

No argument there from me.

When Arsenal were playing Barca a few years ago my spurs supporting stepdad was sat watching the game in a Barca shirt
None of this supporting English teams in Europe rubbish for him

Been a big fan of Wanyama since his Celtic days but that first half was as poor as I’ve seen from a professional footballer.
Spurs not dead yet but they need a good talking to.

Good to see Spurs get back into it after being absolutely dominated early on. There's a goal in this, think it's going to come from a Trippier cross, Ajax look quite susceptible to a killer ball in.

No cos the striker reckoned to pull the trigger ... Caught the keeper out..then pulled it quality strike! IMO

having watched Ajax in the last 2 rounds they play better in the second half of games so Spurs need a massive improvement

Thought it was a bit odd that Rose and Vertonghen both stood still once the ball was slipped through the gap. Striker didn't hit it till the third attempt they could have made an effort

Heaton would have been on him in a flash, Lloris made it easy for him, also surprised me that not a single Spurs player claimed for offside or tried to close him down

Better from Spurs. 3 ATB was a horrible idea - really dislike those formations in any team. 4 ATB much much better.

a shame Spurs don't have Kane and Son, would be a completely different game. I reckon Llorente makes Sam Vokes look like Linford Christie
