Wow! You forget what was allowed in them days. Some X rated tackles going in by today's standards.

Even though he was 28 years old at the time, Tommy Hutchison looked about 55. Hard as nails though.

I was also at this match.
My favourite era.
My favourite Burnley strip.
My favourite pitchside vehicle - the Invacar.

Just before my 18th.
Stayed up in Rawtenstall the night before, and got a coach from Haslingdon.
Think it was an Althams one.

I attended the game. What on earth was Stevo doing for the Coventry goal.
Heaton, Pope and Hart would have saved all three goals. Awful keeping by both sides

Think it's been said before on here. With the players we had that season, It was a travesty we ended up going down.

I loved Ray Hankin and there are very few of his Clarets goals about so that was a treat for me.

Can't ever remember George Best wearing them!
Quite a lot of players didn't.

The Football Museum have some 1880s era shin pads on display which look like thick blocks of wood shoved down your socks.

Watched the City and Fulham games after this. We played some nice football, City built from the back, only 3 staff in the dug outs, and keepers were bloody brave!I was on 2 of those games and I have to say that given todays methods and facilities, those players should make the transition modern day football.
Loved the adverts pitch side. Watneys, Ford Consul, Visionhire, van Heusen shirts, Warners holidays...brilliant.

The first time I went to Highfield Road was to watch our youth team in the semi final of that famous youth cup winning campaign.
