Within 15 miles - Aspinall Arms, Mitton Hall, Freemasons at Wiswell, Assheton Arms.

Depends what level of Restaurant you want. I can recommend a few round here in Skipton but not sure what your budget is.

Tempest Arms in Elslack or Des Amis in Skipton.

Bistro des Amis in Skipton is good, mix of pub and French restaurant, nothing fancy but meal for 2 with wine comes in at £45. I have just left there.

Have an open budget but don’t want anything posh or a menu we don’t understand. Mixed grill/ sirloin steak kind of meals will be great and hopefully near a few pubs afterwards.

that michelin star place in Fence, there are a few pubs along wheatley lane road as well. Not too far from barrowford, too

One of the best in the area. They used to be just down the road from me on Cuckstool Lane. It was called Babar Elephant at the time. We used them a couple of times a month for takeaways and it was always top notch and good service too. They moved a few years ago, unfortunately.

I'd still go for the " Higher Buck " in Waddington, you can have a snifter in the " Waddington Arms " or the " Lower Buck " afterwards, all are within 300 yards of each other ...

This weekend sees the final days of the Three Fishes at Mitton. Lovely building, friendly and efficient staff and good food, especially the crispy cauliflower. Nigel, I hope you sleep at nights.

Shoulder of Mutton in Hebden Bridge offers some really good food particularly their 3 course Sunday Lunch for less than £20.

It’s certainly not a place to go for a ‘fancy meal’ but the food is of a really good standard

Ventured to the thatch and thistle yesterday, 3/5 people got chicken fillets and they were dreadful, that bad they were all sent back and swapped for a burger, asked the waiter if the the chicken were frozen fillets he said no they aren't frozen but are cooked from frozen

The Bay Horse at Roughlee is pretty good. Decent menu and very pleasant people who run it. Ate lunch there a fortnight ago.

Do they still have the waiter who looks like OddJob from the Bond films? Only went once, staff were rude and pushy and the food nothing to write home about.

Went out last week had a spaghetti starter, Sole for the main, profetti rolls for the desert. Expresso coffee. The wife had similar. We had a bottle of wine and water and another single glass of wine all for the grand sum of €36.

Completely depends on where you go, and what your expectations are. There's absolutely no point in doing it if you are going to compare like for like ingredient prices with Lidl. Do yourself a favour and stay at home.

You need to broaden your horizons and see the rest of the world to realise how expensive Britain is, and how poor the quality of the product is

Thanks for the advice, but I'm well aware of the extremely tasty yet dirt cheap street food on offer in Asia etc, living standards of those involved may also come into play?
