National League Play-Off final ....
Salford City v AFC Fylde to be played at Wembley ..... absolute madness !
25,000 at most, rattling round a 3/4 empty stadium, with the fans travelling 200 miles return, think of the cost to them, plus they won't get that much financial reward due to the staging costs that come with Wembley ...to say nothing of the CO2 etc..
Once the play-off contenders are known, it would be much better to put 2/3 Premier League grounds on standby, roughly equi-distant between potential finalists. Once the two finalists are known, play it there ....
Salford City v AFC Fylde at a sold out Turf Moor would provide a much better atmosphere ... according to the AA, it's 39 minutes drive from Salford's ground, and 42 minutes from AFC Fylde's.

Re: National League Play-Off final ....
Fylde play there twice in a week I think I read (FA Trophy Final?)...wonder if that will affect the crowd even more!
Re: National League Play-Off final ....
So you don't think AFC Fylde and Salford City fans should have a huge day out at Wembley.... I am sure they (The Winners a better one) will all have a great trip.Clarets4me wrote:Salford City v AFC Fylde to be played at Wembley ..... absolute madness !

Which ever team someone supports, a day out at wembley could be their one and only chance of a lifetime so let them enjoy it. I will be cheering for Fylde.

Re: National League Play-Off final ....
Think a crowd of 25,000 would be over optimistic tbh. Less than 3000 at Salford yesterday, there was 500 more on at Chorley v Altrincham of which Alty took 1156. Salford are not a well supported club.
Re: National League Play-Off final ....
Yet. They'll get a few more bandwagon jumpers especially should they winStevebfc40 wrote: Salford are not a well supported club.

Re: National League Play-Off final ....
Maybe initially as with many clubs but long term I doubt it. Salford is a poor area and at the end of the day, United fans are United fans. The buzz of seeing the class of 92, even Beckham will wear off. I've seen them a couple of times this season and it's not quality football.edison wrote:Yet. For me it's a well intentioned project to help the area with facilities, educational and career opportunities. But ultimately a vanity project. Salfords paying supporters won't make the difference but that's true of the majority of clubs, especially the higher you go.

If I was a Salford or Fylde fan I'd be buzzing at the chance to watch my team play at Wembley. What's the problem?

I doubt anyone thought that ourselves and Wolves would get anywhere near to filling Wembley for the Sherpa van final.

Re: National League Play-Off final ....
No problem whatsoever and i'm in total agreement about the players and supporters who can make it will be buzzing. I do think Wembley will be very empty and financially will be not that lucrative to either side. As suggested a northern venue on this occasion would be ideal for numbers and revenue. Especially if that venue was Old Trafford.Rileybobs wrote:If I was a Salford or Fylde fan I'd be buzzing at the chance to watch my team play at Wembley. What's the problem?
Re: National League Play-Off final ....
Look at the average attendances of most clubs.compared to how many that will turn up.for a wembley final.wouldn't be surprised if a lot more united fans turn up than you think

Re: National League Play-Off final ....
Without doubt Wembley94, they will take more than their biggest attendance this season. But with adult tickets at £39 and £44 and with Uniteds last game of the season at home the day after. Supply will outstrip demand.

Hard to believe a few years ago that Salford City would be playing Kirkham & Wesham at Wembley

Also hard to believe that either of these two will be replacing Notts County as a Football League team.ClaretTony wrote:Hard to believe a few years ago that Salford City would be playing Kirkham & Wesham at Wembley

There was a crowd of over 8000, so there was no problem. They all went.Rileybobs wrote:If I was a Salford or Fylde fan I'd be buzzing at the chance to watch my team play at Wembley. What's the problem?
There are some decent clubs in the conference with good support in terms of loyalty even if not in numbers, some of them. These two aren't in that category. They are rich boys Thai brides.
If promotion was based on support, Maidstone would have been in the play offs, not going down. Salford will get better crowds next year with lots wanting to pick it off as a new ground.
Re: National League Play-Off final ....
Ground capacity only about 3000

Re: National League Play-Off final ....
Who's ground ? Salford is over 5000 with plenty of room to add capacity, temporarily with scaffold stands initially. Long term maybe an issue if they get the crowds ( which I doubt) it's hard to get to, very poor transport links.wembley94 wrote:Ground capacity only about 3000
Re: National League Play-Off final ....
It's a nightmare for cars to park. Residents around the ground have taken a stand against them.Stevebfc40 wrote:Who's ground ? Anyone seen a report this morning which doesn’t mention the ‘class of 92?’.

Anyone watched a Man U match on TV without a shot of Fergie? It must be in the contract...Steve-Harpers-perm wrote:Anyone seen a report this morning which doesn’t mention the ‘class of 92?’.

Get to Wembley nowadays on the back of a fag packet. It no longer holds any mystique.
