Interesting that you consider not believing in the death penalty is cowardly. Not too arrogant, eh ?

There's no good argument for the death penalty whatsoever.

Surely locked up in isolation for the rest of your life would be a far greater punishment. Never seeing the light of day again, just staring at 4 walls in a small room.
Re: The Death Penalty.
Far too many people released early or released on meds. Parole boards saying sorry after a released convict has gone on a murdering spree don’t really cut it. A number of paranoid scitzos have recently have been found not guilty of murder in the grounds of insanity. Someone gets a slapped wrist and off they go back for ‘therapy’ before they are next unleashed on the innocent public. Build more prisons and asylums or refurbish some of the old ones. Still think it would be more cost effective and simpler to get rid of them.

When you are of an opinion that the thing who did these evil horrendous crimes has human rights put yourself in the position of the mother who was raped bound then forced to listen to her little boy and girl getting raped, how can you justify for one moment that thing having any rights at all. Are you so wrapped up in your oh so superior intellect that you put her and her children secondary to your inflated liberal ego ? he should be tortured for decades until he dies as a deterrent.
FFS when they arrested it they even wrapped a coat around it so it was warm and they couldn't be accused of treating this thing with anything other than dignity otherwise the liberal left would have been in uproar.

Killing someone won’t undo the crimes they committed. Nor is there any evidence it actually reduces crime. The only reason I can see you calling for it in this case is for vengeance - which isn’t recognised in law. If you want a system like that we’d have a legal system more like that of Saudi Arabia.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2019 8:56 pmProbably best to admit you were wrong on this one Rick.

The prison system has fell apart, far too overcrowded and costly. Means people not going to jail when they should and early release for most others.

The first thing I'd like to do is apologise for my offensive outburst, I agree that it wasn't necessary for me to be rude. However, the sentiment remains and in response to quickenthetempo I have this response.
For every murderer; rapist; drug dealer; serial killer who the justice system has found guilty there are victims of our justice system who have been incorrectly incarcerated or executed. I wont list them all here, you have google for that (try UK miscarriage of justice), but it is the main reason why I asked the original question below:
that was in response to a post by FCBurnley as per below:
Call me a liberal, in fact call me what you like - I just dont care what you think. It's people like me who stand up for real justice in this society to enable others to have the right to say what they think and protest in the way that they do. What I cannot abide is the "pitchforks and torches" attitude that is so clearly apparent on this thread.
Some of you may be glad to know that I will no longer be posting on this forum, personally I have had enough of the vitriol and anger that is diseminated here. Perhaps I may return when Brexit is no longer a thing, or Burnley are in a lower division and the forum goes back to being the fun place it used to be, but for now, I've had enough of it.

That'a shame, Rick. It is tempting at times - the recent board shutdown was quite pleasant in some ways - but I hate the thought of letting these knuckle-dragging idiots win. I know there's plenty of them on here and, fortunately, they don't represent the views of a civilised and forward-looking society but, even so, they do need reminding of their idiocy from time to time and you've played your part in doing that.

For the record, I would support a death penalty for 100% proven guilty or inmates who wanted it instead of proper life sentences. None of that 15 years, released in 8 crap.

We would have topped poor Stefan Kiszko but given the 16 years incarceration effectively killed him at the age of 41 for the crimes of Ronald Castree he might as well have been executed too.
To the present case once he has been found guilty and not insane then I am sure he will get a pretty long tariff. As one cannot reverse the death penalty very easily I remain against it but I would change the tariff for murder big time

The argument that people will be wrongfully convicted and executed is strong. But the basic principle and base argument is stronger to me.
That is, the state should not and do not have the right to kill one of its citizens, when the law demands its citizens don't do that very thing. You can't have a civilised society without principles the state itself doesn't abide by.

Re: The Death Penalty.
The death penalty will never be brought back because 1 f up by the courts executing the wrong person would be 1 too many, it wouldn't be a deterrent to vermin like this guy its just an easy way out for them and also society. We need to look at the sentences handed out which need to be a lot tougher eg life is life not 25yrs out in 15 for being a good boy while locked up. Monsters like this guy should be locked up for the rest of their days no question but instead of the death penalty I would be all for life sentences meaning hard labour on remote islands off the coast for the rest of their days make them sew sacks, break rocks for 12 hrs a day make life inside very hard to the point they would have preferred the death penalty, that would be more of a deterrent than knowing it will all be over in minutes at a guillotine electric chair or lethal injection imo.

Picked up doing what where he left off, boyo ? Challenging backward-thinking idiots such as yourself ? Definitely !
What's happening on Friday that should leave me "drowned in tears" ? The election ? Why would the foregone conclusion to that upset me of all people - I'm comfortably off, own my house in a rather agreeable part of Staffordshire and my family are doing incredibly well. Obviously not as well as you claim but still financially bomb-proof. The next few months will be hilarious.
I hope you weren't privately educated, you should demand a ******* refund if you were...it's "you're" as in "you are" not "your" as in "belonging to you".
Cretin.
What's the reference to a sandal - surely "your" not so thick you have to resort to lazy stereotyping.....
