I thought you meant interest in clubs signing him for next season.

Thankfully, it's SD instilling confidence in him and saying his time will come.

Seems a direct contradiction to what he said in another article on this site from a few days ago claiming that the risk with European players is that they often take too long to bed in.

Whether he is in the planning or not I suspect the line will be about protecting the investment made.

Sounds like he is saying he's wanted to get the maximum fee.

To me it says what the title suggests. That European players take time to bed in, but highlights JBG taking a season before they got a look in, suggesting the same will happen with Vydra.

I don't think we can name many that have been baught and walked straight into the starting 11 whilst we have been in the premier league. ( unless there's been injuries )

He's looked quite bright when he's come on, and offers us something different. Let's hope he kicks on after a full pre season with us

Certainly not showing him the door but it doesn't read like he'll be in a much different position next season than this if he decides to stay.

If Dyche rates Vydra he’d have played him. He couldn’t get into the team regularly when we were on a very poor run and there didn’t appear to be a great deal of form/ability in front of him in the pecking order.

In contrast Dyche had no qualms throwing Wood straight in two years ago and has stuck with him even when he’s had slumps in form.

We need an upgrade on Vydra if we’re to progress. A genuine alternative to Wood and Barnes. Not another season wondering if a 27 year old who has almost exclusively played in the Championship will make the step up.

Our two strikers have a very good conversion rate for this level, and since xmas have been one of the main contributors in keeping us up.

I think Vydra is the type of player Dyche has in the Championship (Ings, Gray etc).

2 forwards who can graft and win the forward ball are needed when the going gets tough which suit Barnes and Wood better - plus they are both scoring. If Vydra can become a nuisance to play against as well as his pace he could be very effective next year - I can't see us signing another striker over summer.

I thought Dyche's concern over players from abroad related to those signed from abroad not those who have played in this country for some time already.

Because the 2 striker we have are not always effective, and will not always be fit, so we need an alternative

The thing with Barnes and Wood, is we can only play one way that suits them, and some teams work it out quicker than others. To improve as a Premiership team, we need to hold onto the ball more, and work it into the area, rather than launch it. That style of game would suit Vydra.
We tried to play better football early doors last season, but didn't get the rewards so we regressed.
We've always looked better when we get the ball on the deck, and it doesn't mean that there wont be times when we need to go back to Barnes and Wood again, but we need to change our options if we want to climb the table next season

Vydra looks good to me.Quick and sharp. Time and a chance will prove or disprove.

Many on here wrote off Taylor and Westwood, but they were given time(because of injuries) and now proved themselves.

Very true, but Westwood had held down a regular place in a Premier League team (Villa) before.

Taylor, like Pope, Tarkowski and JBG came to us earlier their careers.

In contrast you’re asking Vydra to buck the trend of the first 10 years of his career and make the step up. Not impossible, but I’m not convinced Dyche or the club will actually take the risk of waiting to find out.

I vaguely recall seeing Vydra for Watford when he first came over to the UK and thinking he was going to be a top player. He had explosive pace and caused havoc. From what I’ve seen in recent years, he’s not quite the player I thought he’d become despite being top scorer with Derby last year.

All 3 got their chance because players moved on. Of course, a year or so of training under Dyche and whatnot will have brought them up to speed with our system, but I can’t see Vydra coming in unless one of Barnes/Wood shifts.

I’ll be interested to see whether Dyche will continue with 4-4-2 next year or sign the players to go back to 5 in the middle.
