Gran Canaria Recommendations

Post by NL Claret » Wed May 08, 2019 10:29 pm

This forum beats Trip advisor for me.

Thinking of a week in June , not after much nightlife, fish restaurants, tapas paella etc , a few bars.

Which are the best resorts?

Maspalomas is much quieter than Puerto Rico and has a good selection of restaurants and hotels.

I’d avoid Puerto Rico for eating but it’s good for a night out. Playa del Ingles is another to avoid based on what you’re after - it is popular though, especially with gay men/ women.

Puerto Mogán is very nice - quiet but plenty local bars and eating if you look around.

Also, worth hiring a car and taking a trip up to the north of the island where it’s much wetter and greener - Teror and Firgas are worth a visit (the former more so) as is the capital.

Plenty choice in GC.

Yumba Centre in Playa del Ingles good for a laugh if you're broad minded ;) some great restaurants and bars though

Sioux City is great. Or was. Gran Canaria was my first ever holiday abroad on a plane. Went with my mate at 16 and bloody loved it! Went again ten years ago and it hadn't changed much still enjoyed it.

Canaries are great but I have only been in winter. Some nice beaches. The dunes are impressive. And I remember some very nice restaurants down by the lighthouse near Masplalomas. They were pretty new at the time I think. It was when we played spurs away in The League Cup Semi when I went so it may have changed a lot since then.
